1. Reviews The Cult If horror is what your searching for look no further than the short film aptly named The Cult..Compared to the 2009 release Jennifer’s Body following in the narrative of Cult Sacrifice, The Cult does for Horror fans what The Hangover did for lovers of comedy. It’s release this December caused some controversy over the glamorisation of violence, however director Megan Hunt hit back at critics by saying, “To say that The Cult glamorises violence is a complete fabrication, when compared to many films of the same age certificate this film is utterly tame.” Although the film has no dialogue and is heavily reliant on the use of sound tracking, the overall tone and narrative of the film is very well delivered, following other films of the same genre it gives homage to the genre and if Jennifer’s Body did anything for you in terms of Horror then your in for a treat with this Cult classic. However a few points to mention before going to see this film is If short films instead of feature length or a film without dialogue produced on a low budget is not the kind of film you would usually pay to see, then don’t. Despite being filmed under rushed conditions and a low budget this film has been crafted to shock to the best of its ability. Other than that, a well constructed film and worth the 5 minutes it takes to watch it.. “If your a film geek look out for the elements of Surrealism” – Dir.
