  2. 2. Strategy is all about sitting above the noise and clutter of theday to day activities of a business. Many business ownersparticularly those who have a personality included towardscontrol have difficulty with strategy and often findthemselves confronted with a business that is failing to profitfrom the opportunities in the market. @masterbizcoach
  3. 3. This goes far beyond the simple issue of personality(although personality of the business driver does contributeto both the success and failure of a business). There is astrong tendency for people going into business for thereason to have independence; to create wealth, to have alifestyle that a job cant give. Often too, there is a belief thatbecause they have a special skill or knowledge that this canbe turned into a profitable venture. Some people have veryhigh technical skills and others have accomplished greatresults in their career. But generally there are qualitiesbeyond the skill set that determine a successful business. @masterbizcoach

But generallythere are qualities beyond the skill set that determine asuccessful business. At the early stages of a business the business owner takes onmany different activities, some of which are beyond hercompetence. 5. 5. The inevitable outcome is that technically competentbusiness owners may be self-employed but they are notbusiness owners. Many simple create a job for themselves. But to achieve growth, delegation, systems and a strategicapproach to business is required. The self employed will belimited in their capacity to produce a growing and thrivingbusiness, replete with employees and disparate locations. @masterbizcoach
  6. 6. The difference between the self employed skilled technicianand the owner lies in strategic thinking and the intention oftrue business creation rather than self-employment. All thesignificant long term decisions to do with building a businesscome from a strategic mindset: will this business beeventually sold? Will this business attract investors whoinject capital for growth? Will these investors see a businessthat can grow beyond the direct ability of the founderowner? @masterbizcoach
  7. 7. The ultimate goal for most owners is to have a business thatcan carry on without them. A business with real value. Thatis the essence of a sustainable and ultimately wealth-creating business. A business that becomes a living organismwithin the total economy. A business that can be sold orgifted. A business that supports you to live a trulyremarkable life. @masterbizcoach
