The position of Data Assistant is a flexible contract position.

It will allow a young professional, graduate student, or skilled undergraduate interested in social change the opportunity to practice a range of skills related to basic statistical analysis as it is used to measure the effectiveness of social change projects.

The role is extremely flexible. It will be largely virtual, with occasional in-person meetings with a project supervisor if the applicant lives in Seattle. The Data Assistant will thus work largely independently and be free to determine their own work hours. Over the next four months, total work is not expected to exceed thirty (30) hours total and will also not exceed five (5) hours in any given week.

Skills and Competencies The applicant must have the following skills in the area of statistics: • Data Management: Create and format a data set for analysis • Regression Analysis: Create, run, and interpret linear regression equations using a range of independent and dependent variable types. Analysis may be completed in SPSS, R, or a similar program. • Basic Probability: Calculate basic measures of statistical significance (margin of error and confidence level), identify and develop countermeasures against sources of bias. • Basic Sampling: Make an argument as to what sample size is appropriate given the population size and other project parameters. The applicant must have the following interpersonal skills: • Responsiveness: Communication through virtual tools like SMS, video calls, and/or email messages are responded to within the business day. • Detail Orientation: Work at a granular level, willing and able to clean a data set • Punctuality: Meetings and assignments occur and are delivered on time. • Self-Management: Excellent ability to complete tasks on time without direct supervision.   2. 2. Compensation Compensation is based on an hourly rate of $35. It is paid on a monthly basis when the Data Assistant is working on a project. (The Data Assistant will not receive pay when not working on a specific project.) Though Do Big Good, LLC does not provide benefits, the Data Assistant will receive an additional 15% per hour to support the purchase of health and dental insurance or other benefits the individual wishes.
