How can scanners, digital cameras,and or video cameras be used inSpecial Education?● Teach the students how to make videos● Capture the students progress throughout the year● Students can scan pictures of their families and edit them by putting words on the pictures● Students could take pictures rather than write about stuff they see

Important Concepts● Students in special education use Ipads to learn concepts such as counting and spelling.● Technology is a growing epidemic in the classroom.● Technology helps students with visual problems see text easier.● It can help students with disabilities to work more quickly, easily, and independent.

Multimedia Tools● Rock N Go - Mixes math with music; it creates a fun learning environment for students that have troubles focusing● Fun with Feelings - Is a software that you can get that, helps identify emotions and helps with social skills● Mangoon - games that incorporate spelling, grammar, writing, and math.● Inspiration - a program that helps students diagram thoughts and stories. Also a visual learning system which helps a wide range of disabilities.

How technology is used incommunicating, collaborating,etc● Students can use technology to communicate with each other on ipads.● Students can conduct research by using the internet on their computers.● Students can solve problems by using apps on their ipad to help them.● Students can collaborate with one another by using technology to find their own opinions to compare and contrast with each other.

Responsibility, ethical and legalissues, information, software● Students can be responsible by having to look after their technology.● Students can use software resources to help them view text bigger, etc.● Students can use information by looking up resources or other things on the internet.● Legal and ethical issues have helped with capabilities for special education students

Webquest● If You Give a Cat a Cupcake- is a reading activity working on reading and worksheets in groups or by themselves.● Why Are You So Special- finding out how different famous Americans have changed your life without you knowing them.● My Special Diet - this is a health assignment where you have to plan a healthy picnic for you and your family.● Writing My Special Memory- a writing assignment where you have students close their eyes and write a paragraph about something special to them.

Rubrics● Handwriting Checklist - assessing how well the students handwriting.● Conversation Rubric - this rubric is for assessing conversation and seeing if the students can use the proper techniques for conversation.● Power Point - this is a rubric to assess the students ability to make a powerpoint.● PE Participation- grades students on their ability to cooperate, their attention, their ability to follow instructions, motivation, and independence.

Lesson Plans● Photography- this lesson plan is when students are learning nouns and verbs and while they are taking pictures of different things, they also learn how to upload pictures and use the different applications with the camera.● Hooray for Independence - this lesson plan is for the students to gather information about the nations independence day, recognize all the symbols, and then create a wall hanging.● Waves of Radios! - this lesson plan is for the students to research all the information about radios and why they got smaller and why they were so important. Then when the students are done with their research they are going find and present a photo and describe our findings.● Times Tables - a lesson plan on teaching times tables. The students will learn all the times tables from 0-12 with 80% accuracy.

Productivity Tools in SpecialEducation● Word procesing- Assisstive techonology, word documents with pictures and descriptions.● Database Management- Can be used to keep track of enrollement, files, and progress.● Spreadsheets- Google docs spreadsheet to communicate with parents; information about what theyre doing in class and what related service providers are doing.
  14. 14. Adhering to Copyright Laws● Ask before using a copyright.● Include copyright information if using the material.● Use copyright free websites.
  15. 15. SummaryTechnology is a huge factor in specialeducation. It is used for a variety of things.Such as: assistive tech devices, iPods,iPads, etc. These aid in communicationskills and motor skills in students. It is alsoused for keeping track of information andcommunicating with parents. These are justsome of the few ways technology is used inSpecial Education.
