Our Client is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to head up a team of an exciting product within the
company.
The team are working on the next generation of News and Weather products. As the Lead Developer
you will be developing exciting new features and improving existing projects across mobile, tablet and
desktop.
They solve challenging problems at a massive scale. They also like to invest time in new
opportunities, either coding up your own ideas or being involved with larger cross team prototypes
within the company.
They make sure they are up to date with new technology and modern development tools. They
currently use: Github, Grunt, RequireJS, PhantomJS, Vagrant, Sass and Cucumber.
They are looking for talented and influential Lead developers to join the team and create
amazing products as well as influence one of the World’s largest websites.
You will be working alongside other developers and be responsible for leading world class
code development, working in a multi-disciplinary team with Product owners, Project
Managers, designers, architects and testers.
You will lead on design and build of all front-end components ensuring best practice is being
followed within the team.
You will provide time and resource estimates to assist in the planning of projects as well as
mentor and coach less experienced members of the team.
Must haves:
Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
Fluency in one or more of: PHP, Ruby, Python, Java, Perl.
Ability to write quality OO code in PHP and have experience with MVC frameworks
Excellent front-end web development skills:HTML5, CSS / SCSS, JAVASCRIPT.
Experience of TDD and automated Acceptance Tests with Ruby / Cucumber.
Experience of building high performance websites.
Understanding of Service Oriented Architectures and consuming RESTful web services
via HTTP.
Experience in Version control systems (Subversion, Git).
Good to haves
Experience of developing in Ruby.
Understanding of CI, experience with using a CI system (Hudson, Jenkins).
Experience of Agile Programming, pairing and working within a collaborative team.
Healthy interest in upcoming web standards and technology.
