This application is called MailChimp.

You can sign up for a free account

that lets you send up to
12,000 emails per month

and have up to
2000 subscribers.

Let’s get started!

On your desktop,
open your favorite web browser like
Google Chrome

Google Chrome home page is shown

In the address bar, type
https://mailchimp.com

Then press ENTER key on your
keyboard

MailChimp home page is shown

Cool!
Let’s now register
your free account!

Click Sign Up Free

You can register via Email

Enter your Email

Enter your Username

Enter your Password

Make sure to follow the prescribed
password guidelines

Once done, click Get Started!

Boom! You have successfully created
your account

To activate your account,
open a new tab

And access the registered email (in
this tutorial I used Gmail)

Click the email to view the message
sent by MailChimp

Then click Activate Account

A new tab is opened, click I’m not a robot

Then answer the following question

Click Verify once done

After successfully answering the
question, your account is confirmed

You are redirected to this page

Enter your First name

Enter your Last name

Click Continue

Enter the Name of your business

Enter your Website

Click Continue

You’re asked about your physical
address for compliance

Enter your Address line 1

Enter your City

Enter your State / Province / Region

Enter your Postal Code

Select your Country

Click Continue

Select Yes or No

Click Continue

You have the option to connect your
social media accounts

To do that, click + sign beside
Facebook

You are asked to log in to your
Facebook account

Enter your Email or Phone Number

Enter your Password

Click Log In

Click Continue as <Name>

Click OK

Click OK again

Your Facebook account is now
connected

Click Continue

Click Let’s Go!

You are redirected to MailChimp
dashboard, click Onward

Now that you have successfully
created your account

We can now move to the
first activity

Creating a LIST

Before that, what is a
MailChimp List?

A MailChimp List is where you store
your contacts

On your dashboard, click Lists

You are redirected to Lists page

Click Create List

Create List page is shown

Enter your List name

Enter From email address

Enter From Name

Scroll down, and type a short message
on the allotted space

Scroll down again, and update the
address info if necessary

Scroll further down, and select your
desired Notifications settings

Lastly, click Save

And your list is successfully created!

In order for that list to have
subscribers

A Signup form is needed

Let’s now continue to the
next activity

Creating a
Signup Form

On your list, click Signup forms

There are 4 types of Signup forms

But in this tutorial,
we are going to focus

in just one type which is the
General Forms

Click Select beside General forms

Create forms page is shown

Click the dropdown arrow below
Forms and response emails

Different forms can be created in
MailChimp

And for today, we’re going to
emphasize only two forms

First is the Signup form,
it is where your subscribers

enter their information to
subscribe to your List

This can be accessed through a URL
provided by MailChimp

The other one is the
Final welcome email

This is the email that your
subscriber will receive

once he/she confirmed his/her
subscription

Later, I’m going to provide an
end to end example

Let us focus first on creating
your forms

Under Create forms, make sure
Signup form is selected

Scroll down to display the form

You can Build it, Design it and
Translate it

Under Build it,
you can add different elements

using the available options shown
beside the form

For example, you want to add a
number field

click Number under Add a field

A new untitled field is added

Under Field settings,
change the Field Label

Update other field settings as
appropriate, then click Save Field

The Signup form is updated correctly

You can also remove a field
from the form

For example, to remove
Last Name field click on it

Then click the minus - sign

You’re asked if you are sure on
deleting the field

To confirm, type the word
DELETE first

Then click Delete

Last Name field is successfully removed

You can also enter your customized
message on this section

Click click to add a message

Edit Your Content window appears

Then type your desired message

And apply your preferred formatting
using the toolbar

Lastly, click Save & Close

The Signup form is updated correctly

And we are done with Build it part

Let’s now go to the next part, the
Design it

Click Design it tab

Here you can use your creativity

to make your form appealing
to the eyes

Just select which part you
want to design

It could be the Page

the Body

And so on…

You also need to select the specific
element to design

It could be the Header under Page

or the Foreground under Body

And so on…

Then manipulate the element’s
properties to enhance the design

For example, to change the Page
background color, click here

Select your desired color

Page background color is changed

Just explore the Design it tab
to further enhance your form

This is the completed Signup form

So we have tackled Build it and
Design it already

Let’s now go to the last part, the
Translate it

Click Translate it tab

Here you can translate the words
used in your form

However, we’re not going to change
anything in this tab

Unless updating this would be
necessary, feel free to make changes

We are now done updating the
Signup form

Let’s now start
creating the
Final welcome email

Make sure Final welcome email is
selected

Basically, you can apply all the things
you learned earlier

into this new form as they share the
same principles

You can Build it, Design it and
Translate it too

So feel free to customize the form
depending on your liking

If you want to give your subscribers
a welcome gift

It can be done by adding a link in the
final welcome email

To do that, click here to edit its content

Edit Your Content window is shown

Type your desired message

To add a link, click on Link icon

In the Insert or Edit Link window,
select the Link to type

And paste the link in the
Web Address (URL) field

Once finalized, click Insert

And the gift’s link is now included in
the message

Finally, click Save & Close

Final message email is updated

There are two important things to
update in Final welcome email

First is the From, Reply-to
and Subject information

Since Final welcome email is going to
be received by the subscribers

once he/she confirmed his/her
subscription

The aforementioned information are
critical since your subscribers will see
them

So make some adjustments by
changing the pre-set values

To do that, click the textbox for
the Subject field

And change its default content to
make it more interesting

You may change From and Reply-to
fields as appropriate

Another important thing for Final
welcome email is the…

Send a final welcome email checkbox

Make sure to check this

to ensure that your subscribers will
receive a welcome email

after confirming their subscription

We’re done creating the signup form
and final welcome email

Let’s now try
subscribing to
Virtual Expert
Company Newsletter
list

Copy the Signup form URL

Open a new tab

Then paste the URL and
press ENTER key on your keyboard

The actual Signup form we created
earlier is now shown

Enter Email Address/First Name/Age

Click Subscribe to list

You’re asked to confirm humanity,
click I’m not a robot

Humanity is confirmed

Click Subscribe to list one more time

You’re asked to confirm the
registered email

Open a new tab again to access
the registered email

A new tab is opened to inform of
successful subscription

Remember this checkbox that we
marked earlier?

Open your registered email again

and check the Final welcome email
in your inbox

Creating and Sending
Campaigns

What are MailChimp Campaigns?

These are the individual email
messages that you send to your
subscribers

In MailChimp dashboard,
click Campaigns

Click Create Campaign

On the New campaign window,
enter Campaign name

And click Campaign type

Select Regular campaign

Once done, click Create

Then select your campaign recipient

and click Next

Campaign info page is shown

Type your Email subject

And update other fields as
appropriate under the following
sections

Campaign Info

Tracking

Social media and More options

Then click Next

Select a template which suits your
needs

For this tutorial, I am choosing
1 Column under Basic section

You are redirected to Design page

On the left side,
you can edit
the default
blocks

On the right side,
you can drag
blocks to add
in your
template

To add a block, drag-and-drop it
to the left side

After dropping the block, it is
successfully added

Customize your template by
adding blocks depending on your
requirement

You can also update a campaign’s
design, click Design

And update each item on the right
depending on your preference

For example, click on Page

and modify its properties

This is the campaign’s final look

Once done, click Next

And it’s ready to send!

Review first the campaign’s feedback

and if all is set, click Send

On the
Prepare for launch
window, click
Send Now

Well done!
The campaign is successfully sent!

Access the email you registered to
verify the campaign

Another option in sending campaigns
is through scheduling, click Schedule

And set up your preferred schedule

Then click Schedule Campaign
