Goals <ul><li>Career goal : </li></ul><ul><li>Ultimately, I want to be a sports writer for a major newspaper or magazine ( ESPN The Magazine , Sports Illustrated , etc.). </li></ul><ul><li>Social Media goa l: </li></ul><ul><li>With my online brand, I hope to create an online presence in the world of sports journalism and establish myself as a leader in sports writing. </li></ul>

My Social Media Presence <ul><li>I have profiles on: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>-Twitter </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>-Facebook </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>-Linkedin </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>-Blogspot </li></ul></ul>My presence on Twitter and Facebook is the biggest asset to my online brand because I am able to promote articles I've written and link directly to my magazine's profile.

Objectives <ul><li>My main objective is to use my social media brand to gain a job as a sports writer. </li></ul><ul><li>Smaller objectives that will help me reach my main goal are: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>-gaining more followers on Twitter </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>-gaining more connections/recommendations on Linkedin </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>-promoting and directing future employers to my social media resume </li></ul></ul>
  6. 6. SWOT Analysis <ul><li>Strengths </li></ul><ul><li>My biggest strength is my writing skills and being able to link directly to articles I've written. I have also held three executive board positions in my sorority and I am good at facilitation. </li></ul><ul><li>Weaknesses </li></ul><ul><li>I am a little bit behind in regards to social media; I'm not always pursuing different outlets and I am not always familiar with how to use them. </li></ul><ul><li>Opportunities </li></ul><ul><li>My biggest opportunity is to be able to connect with other writers and future employers. I also have connections with other writers in the area and live close to Detroit which has two major publications. </li></ul><ul><li>Threats </li></ul><ul><li>I'm slightly illiterate when it comes to the digital world, which is a huge setback, especially in journalism. </li></ul>

Key Messages <ul><li>The main things I want my personal brand to represent about me are my passion, dedication and writing capabilities. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>-Example: I'm incredibly passionate about EMU and all of my social media profiles reflect that, whether in background images or profile pictures. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Employers will see that: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>-I love what I do and really care about it. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>-I am committed and work hard at promoting not only myself, but my fellow writers as well. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>-I have the experience that makes me stand out as a writer. </li></ul></ul>
