  2. 2. GENERAL INFORMATION  Population of Croatia: approximately 4,5 million  0,8 % of national minorities  Minorities: Czech, Slovak, Serbian, Macedonian, Bosnian, Italian, Hungarian , German, Slovenian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Russian, Romani  Protection of only some of the national minorities
  3. 3. MINORITIES’ RIGHTS Rights of some of the national minorities: Cultural autonomy Education in native language and script Participation in the work of the Government Cooperation with the homeland of each minority
  4. 4. THE SERBIAN MINORITY  4,36 %  Part of Croatian population – rejection and intolerance  Bilingual plates  Many cultural organizations and their own newspaper  Serbian cultural society „Prosvjeta” Zagreb – the oldest organization

THE ITALIAN MINORITY  0,4 %  Problems in the past, problems are solved, people well integrated  Daily newpaper “La Voce del Popolo”  Profesional theater and science organizations  Everything is financed from the Croatian Government budget  Istarska county, Primorsko-goranska county, Požeško-slavonska county, the city of Zagreb
