Traditional Food & DrinkSARMALE (stuffed cabbage): Minced meat (beef, pork, veal, lamb, or goat) rice, onions and various spices, including salt ,pepper and various local herbs mixed together and rolled into large plant leaves as : cabbage (fresh or pickled), grape leaves etc.
Mămăliga : is cooked by boiling water, salt and cornmeal in a special- shaped pot called ceaun. Is often served with yogurt cream and cheese on the side or crushed in a bowl of hot milk.Slănină (lard) :fat from thepork`s stomach , kept 2-3weeks in a very salty waterin which one can put garlicscrubbed with hot or sweetpaprika and smoked in aroom for a couple of days.
Ţuică & Pălincă Ţuică & Pălincă : drinksmade of plums , apples,pears, apricots andsometimes cherries, andeven from mulberry(dude). They are doubledistillated drinks left forfermentation.
SweetsCozonac : is a sweetbread, to which milk,sugar, eggs, butter andraisins are added.
