  5. 5. CHIEF JUSTICE JOHN MARSHALL: • LAWS ADOPTED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ARE PARAMOUNT (MORE IMPORTANT) OVER ANY LAWS ADOPTED BY THE STATES, WHEN THIS ARE CONFLICTING.
  6. 6. STATES’ PREROGATIVES ARE PROTECTED BY: THE 10TH AMENDMENT • THIS AMENDMENT SAYS THAT ANY POWER THAT IS NOT GIVEN TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS GIVEN TO TO THE PEOPLE OR THE STATES

STATE-TO-STATE RELATIONS • EACH STATE NEEDS TO RESPECT ANOTHER’S STATES PUBLIC ACTS AND RECORDS • EVERY U.S CITIZEN IS A CITIZEN OF ANY STATE, AND IS GRANTED THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE STATE HE/SHE IS IN • WHEN SOMEONE COMMITS A CRIME, OTHERS STATES SHOULD HELP KEEP PEACE IN THE OTHER STATE • STATES CAN NOT BREAK BOUNDARIES UNLESS CONGRESS STATES SO
