2. Arena
• The area in which I would like to work is Sports Marketing, more
specifically in the jersey selling section of the marketing team or
social media marketing in any first or second division team in
southern, western Europe or the MLS.
3. Identity
• The purpose behind my sports marketing career is do to the fact
that I have a passion for soccer that not many others share. This
passion started as a child and has been growing ever since,
leading me to becoming who I am today.
• I have a lot of values, but the most important ones to me are
family, dedication and respect. I intend to use this values with my
clients and the work I do for them because they are trusting me
with something that is so important to them that I want them to
feel that they are important to me too.
4. Skills
The job of a sports marketer, more specifically, the ones who are involved in the marketing
team of a soccer club that is in charge of selling the clubs jerseys requires multiple skills.
Skills relevant to job
• Expert in social media marketing.
• Able to work in teams.
• Creative and open minded individual.
• Experienced in target audience research.
• Speaks two or more languages is an extra, take in into consideration.
• Masters technological devices.
• Familiar with graphic design.
5. Profession
• My job is to research the clubs target audience and figure out the
demographics and the reason behind why the buy the jerseys they
purchase. After completing this task I am faced with the challenge
of discovering the most successful form of selling the jerseys on
social media, websites and physical stores.
• I relate mostly to the hero archetype, which is a determined,
ethical, and disciplined person, who’s goal is to become an expert
through overcoming challenges and lots of practice, making your
clients feel motivated, equipped, and challenged. This is what
differentiates me from the rest, because I try to help my clients
overcome the challenges by making them feel confident and
motivated.
6. Credentials
• My audience focuses mainly on educational credentials, such as
sports marketing graduation diploma and resume, to se the
experience you have in the world of sports marketing. Credibility
is all, so showing them the papers is just part of the focus,
proving that you deserved those credentials is what matters
most.
• As they see who you are, what you have achieved and your style
of work, the trust will increase exponentially until you become a
trusted man in the sports marketing world.
7. Promise
• My promise is to show professionalism throughout the time I am
working with my client by working hard, dedicating my full
attention to their needs and being supportive. So at the end of the
job I meet and go beyond their expectations.
• My knowledge, skills and deep brand research is what leads me to
knowing that the client has a problem with their brand. The most
common are loss of brand identity, jersey sale crisis and social
media disorder.
8. Positioning
• As stated before what differentiates me from the competition is
that I try to help my clients overcome the challenges by making
them feel confident and motivated. Also, the passion that I feel
towards the sport and everything surrounding it gives me an
advantage over the rest.
• My audience such as clients and employers would think of me as
a dedicated passionate and family bonded man who would do
anything, even go out of his comfort zone, to achieve the task
given.
9. Audience
• My main audience are MLS soccer clubs as well as first and
second division European clubs, but never taking other sports
teams and players out of the table.
• This audience is influenced by their fans, critics and mostly the
market itself. This makes them so easy to find, like in LinkedIn
because they are always wanting to become the better version of
themselves while at the same time destroying the critics they
receive.
10. Networking & Marketing
• The best way to gain attention of clients or employers is to put
yourself out there via social media, email, word of mouth or even
flyers.
• Once their attention is caught, building a strong relationship with
them is important. This would be done by keeping them updated of
any work, or spontaneous creation I do. For know I have posted
various youtube videos and created adobe spark presentations
showing my content.
• The sports marketing industry has dozens of events which are always
helpful because you dive into a place where successful people from
the industry show their work and might even give you advice.
11. Competitors
• There is a lot of competition in the sports marketing world, people
who share similar if not the same passion, skills and knowledge
with you.
• The competitors may have things in common with me but can
also makeup ideas that may never occur to me, this is both and
advantage and a disadvantage, depending on the quality. Apart
from that, level of education, brad archetype and values shape the
person who we are and at that point, its up to the employer’s
values and way of being to the side who is the better fit.
12. Professional Development
• Overall as a sports marketer diving himself into a very difficult
and workload world, the main change I would have to do
disorganization in my Schedule. Apart from that, there are some
skills, like patience and acceptance of others harsh critiques to
improve.
• To be able to become the professional I want to be, I would need
to have a mentor to help me organize myself and guide me
through the right path to begin with. A person who is there even
when I have mastered my job, just to take advice, personally I
have lots of sports marketers back home and one of them will
surely mentor me if I ask.
13. Goals
• By developing my personal brand I want to achieve recognition
and at some point my dream job, which is to work for my favorite
soccer club Juventus. Also, one of the most challenging goals is
to grow my brand awareness significantly.
• The way I will grow my brand awareness is by constantly
developing, publishing and redesigning branded content which
will most likely be seen on my social media accounts.Apart from
that, growing my linkedIn connections and using Full Sail
University’s infinite connections tot he sports marketing world, my
brands will become a big deal in 5 years.
