What are microbes?are microscopic organisms that cannot beseen by the naked eye, only by using amicroscope. But some of them we can see it by thenaked eye “Parasites”.Other names for microbesare microorganisms and, when related to infectionor diseases, "germs" and"bugs".
Where do they live?Everywhere , where they’re adapt…Some of them live in : coldplaces, hot, warm, moisture
When do they survive? When there are factors that help them survive and breed… Why they are participating other life forms?1-some of them to benefit. In our bodies.2- And the other intrudes on human, animal, plant.
So the study of microbes iscalled… Microbiology
Why do we study microbiology??To know that some of them help us and the other of them Harm and Warn from it.Why do we study medical microbiology??? In the laboratory: when analyzing the sample we canknow the type of disease By knowing the type of Virus.
why are we not suffering from any disease all the time?Because of Nine out of ten cells in our bodies are microbes
When microbes can cause a disease?Weak immune Invasion to a system. sterile body site. Pathogenic microbial invasion.
Parasites1-Eukaryotes, unicellular or multicelluar.2-Example: Giardia lambia
Fungi1-Eukaryotes, in a unicellular or filamentousform.2-Example: Trichophyton rubrum
And the god & Prophet peace be upon him give anorder with “Hygiene” Which is the basis to protectourselves from diseases and he don’t know thatthere will be science and studies can’t besuccessful Without “Hygiene”
*Rememberthat the name of God when we 1-Saystart work2-Wash your hands with soapand water before you begin andafter you finish your work andbefore leaving the lab.
3- Clean the place after the completionof the work 4- Cut nails
5-Throwing things after thecompletion of them in specialplaces “ 6-Take a Permission from the owner of the thing
I hope everyone Response inside andoutside the laboratory
Safety in Microbiology Laboratory Aims of following safety rules and practices:1-To prevent the occurrence of accidentalinfections in the lab and reduce them if they occur.2-Prevent potentially harmful microbes fromleaving the lab.
Safety in Microbiology Laboratory2-Wash your hands with soap and water beforeyou begin and after you finish your work andbefore leaving the lab.
2-Decontaminate your work surfacebefore and after you work3-No bags inside the lab.
4-Wear only closed-toed shoesin the laboratory.5-Wear lab scrub and fully- buttonedlab coat.
6-Tight your hair. Lipstick Especially7-No cosmetics
Safety in Microbiology LaboratoryIf you are:Injured… Cover itImmunocompromised… Tell your teacherPregnant… Tell your teacherAllergic to latix… Tell your teacher
Be careful not to burn yourself when using Bunsenburner.Keep your hands away from your mouth andeyes…
Do not eat, drink or chew gum while you arein the labAvoid using electronic devices …Mobiles,MP3 players, laptops…
Always keep cultures in a test tube rack whetheryou are working at your bench or walking aboutin the lab.Place all contaminated tubes, platesand waste materials in appropriatereceptacles for subsequentsterilization.
If you spill a chemical on yourskin, immediately wash the affected area.If a chemical or a culture gets into youreye, immediately wash your eye for 5 min.
*If anything containing viable bacteriaspills, cover the spell or broken glass witha paper towel and a generous amount ofdisinfectant to remain on the slip for atleast 20 min. before cleaning it up.*Sweep up pieces of broken glass(after disinfection if necessary) andplace them in the specifiedcontainer.*Place sharps, such assyringes and slides, in adesignated sharp containers.
*Do not keep cultures in your lab draweror locker when you have finished withthem.*Do not remove cultures, reagents, orother materials from the lab unless youhave permission to do so. *Know the first aid kit location in your lab.
