Rich woman,

  1. 1. RICH WOMAN,
POOR WOMAN Francis E Madojemu Inspired by Kim Kiyosaki
  2. 2. The World of Investing • • In the world of investing the how to invest-to buy a rental property, how to choose stock, or get a good return on your investment- it’s the same for men and women. Whether stocks, bonds or real estate, investments do not care if it is a man or a woman who is doing the buying, selling, holding, remodeling, or renting. The truth is when it comes to money, men and women are different – historically, psychologically, mentally and emotionally. These differences are at the heart of the reason why so many we today are in the dark when it comes to money and investing. These differences are what separate the sexes.
  3. 3. Why Women Choose Not to Invest • • • • • • • • • • Rich Dad, Poor Dad and now Rich woman and soon, Rich Family! Why we choose not to invest: “My Husband will take care of me.” “I work too hard at my job.” “I want the benefits from a job” “I don’t have the time” “I don’t have the money” “I am not smart enough” “My children need me” “I don’t want to be bothered”
  4. 4. Why Women Choose Not to Invest You may have heard the saying, “He who has the money makes the rules” the point I have to stress is how essential it is to be prepared for whatever may happen. • And to encourage you to tell yourself the truth about who or what you are depending upon for your financial future. • It’s God but He says •
  5. 5. Scripture • • 2 Peter 1:1-10 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, 1 To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
  6. 6. Scripture • 2 Peter 1:5-10 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;
  7. 7. Things we do instead • • • • • • We marry for money We stay in bad relationships or bad marriages because we are afraid we can’t make it financially on our own. We let a man make all the key financial decisions. We accept the myth that men are better at investing. We wont challenge a mans financial decisions because we don’t want to rock the boat and hurt his ego. We take financial advice from supposed experts because we don’t think we‘re smart enough.
  8. 8. Things we do instead • • • • • • We keep quiet to keep the peace We hang on too long because [at least financially] because we’re “comfortable.” We are left behind for younger women ….because we hung on for too long [we lost what attracted him to us in the first place and our passion and goals] We hope the man will change. We settle for “OK” in life when what we want is “GREAT” A man is lost but won’t ask for directions.. And we follow him.
  9. 9. Things we do instead • • • • • • We sell ourselves short. We put up with all the inequalities on the job, for a paycheck We feel guilty working extra hours and not being with our kids. We get passed over for a promotion we deserve.. And stay. We accept less pay than our male equivalents and often end up doing their work. We miss our kid’s soccer games and recitals because we have to work. We often look into the future and think, “Someday…”
  10. 10. I know the questions • • 1 Peter 3:1-4 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives,2 when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
  11. 11. The Bottom Line The bottom line is that we sell our souls in the name of money; the real crime is the toll it takes on our self esteem, our confidence and our self worth. This about taking control of our live, its about dignity, it’s about self control. • Through out history women were taught and expected to be financially dependent on some else for their financial well being. • A Man, Family, Company, or Government? •
  12. 12. A Man, Family, Company, or Government? • • • • • Today that could be a dangerous position in which to be. Times have changed! In Jesus day! Help meet in the book of Genesis women are to help men and interestingly the weaker vessel here is not strength but delicate Why would God give you someone weaker to help you? Its our responsibility to teach the children about money.
  13. 13. Weaker or Delicate 1 Peter 3:5-7 • For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands,6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror. 7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. •
  14. 14. Everything Jesus did was warfare • • • • 1 John 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. All Jesus did was an act of war for His fathers will, defeating from inside out. Crossed racial lines with the woman with the issue of blood and social taboos for example using women in his ministry as well as his attitude to the sick and to the poor. In this he was going against the principalities and powers enforcing this stronghold. Not just the cross and prayer his life and ministry was an act of war
  15. 15. We Are To Imitate • • • • Ephesians 5:1-2 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling aroma. Everything we do should be an act of love we are to imitate or mimic God in our actions We in church today have restricted warfare to prayer and demonology but it is a lifestyle because Worship is a lifestyle not just singing slow songs. [Value for people and caring for the food and welfare of those he was preaching for, almost the opposite of us today]
  16. 16. Men Sex & Women • • Historically it’s impossible to talk about men, women and many without talking about sex. Sex money, and women are closely interwoven, and often we don’t even see the impact one has on the other because we have been raised for generations to accept this as the standard in society. By the time women are 16 even younger they become aware of the tremendous power they have over men – the power of sex. Yet most women if they are honest will admit to knowing exactly how powerful our youthful sexuality could be. A little flirting could go a long way.
  17. 17. Men Sex & Women • • • It is this sexual need that men have that gives us women such immense power early on, and begins to shape women’s views about what to do and how to act to get what we want in the world. And the formula works as long as you are young and sexually attractive. But time marches on, and things change. Its Time to Change the Formula The formula of using our youth and sex appeal to get the attention and influence we desired in order to get what we wanted, worked well for many of us in our 20s and 30s, but it is not the formula to get us what we want in or 40s, 50s and 60s.
  18. 18. Men Sex & Women • • It’s a waste of time to think men will change. It is time for women to change. The formula that worked for us when we were young loses its effect as we get older. And for many of us its time to change our formula. And money plays a key role in the equation. Whereby sex gave power when we were young, money puts us in control as we get older. Katherine Hepburn summed it up best. She said: “Women, if you are given a choice between money and sex appeal, take the money. As you get older money will become your sex appeal.”
  19. 19. A Roadmap to Change • • • The “how to” of investing - how to buy and sell stocks, how to manage a rental property or how to analyze a business investment – is the same for men as it is for women. However the reason why women must become investors is very different between he sexes. Here are six sound reasons why women need to get into this game called investing: 1The statistics, 2 Avoiding dependency, 3No glass ceiling, 4 No limits on income, 5 Increased selfesteem, 6 Control of your time
  20. 20. Why Women must become investors These six reasons support why women and investing go hand in hand. • The statistics prove how much times have changed for women and point out that our need for real life financial education is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity. • Depending on someone else for your financial future is like rolling the dice in Las Vegas these days. • The reward may be there in the end but the risk is steep. •
  21. 21. Why Women must become investors Glass ceilings and limits to income are what so may women have been fighting against for ages. • Both disappear in the world of investing. • And then two of the greatest gifts of all – a higher sense of self worth and time to spend exactly as you want – can be yours. • Today, investing is no longer just a good idea for women. It’s a must have. •
  22. 22. I Don’t Have The Time! • • • • • • The number one excuse of women Excuses disguised as reasons What we are saying is what s on my plate is more important than anything you are suggesting. We find time for what we consider important. The critical question is Why do I need to invest. You must find your personal reason WHY?
  23. 23. Your Personal Reason Why • • • • • Most people think the 1st step to investing I learning the how-to’s. But the real 1st step to investing is to find out why you want or need to invest. What will truly motivate and drive you to spend time and effort to be a good investor Its not your why if it does not inspire you. Your personal reason why has to be dazzling and moving so that when you begin to doubt what you are doing, your why keeps you going.
  24. 24. A Few Reasons Why • • • • • • Ask yourself, “what is my true reason for wanting to be financially independent? Think about: What would you do if you never had to work again. What if you had all the time in the world to spend exactly as you wanted? How would your life be different if money were not a worry. Continue to do this again and again untill your personal reason why is crystal clear
  25. 25. The Next Step • • • • • Two kinds of pain: Failure & Regret How wealthy are you now: A persons ability to survive X number of days forward. The Goal To be financially free and independent is to never again have to work for money because every month you have enough coming in from your investments to cover your living expenses
  26. 26. I Don’t Have the Money • • • • • • When I hear someone say ‘I will start as soon as I have the money’ it justifies not doing anything because you cant… until you have the money. It’s a great excuse to do nothing. Instead of finding the money you are to find the investment first At this point you will be amazed how creative you become in finding the financing. There is always money By going after the money the odds of getting the investment might be 50% to 605 but if you have already decided you cant afford it then your odds are zero

  28. 28. My Partner’s Not Interested • • • • • • • • Its not just about money. Its clearly also about relationship A great analogy: Kids in at a pool party, Boys and Girls Boys would jump in in competition Girls would hold ands and jump in together Boy compete women cooperate! They consider the thoughts and feelings of those close to them So this is a genuine question for women
  29. 29. My Partner’s Not Interested • • • • • A not uncommon issue; [Works both ways!] Four Options: 1. Invest with her partner as a team [Great] 2. Invest on her own – with her partners support. [Show him the money] 3. Invest on her own – without her partners support 4. Don’t invest. It’s the same with salvation!
  30. 30. How to get your Partner on Board • • • • • • • Creativity Remember scripture says conduct! More communication not less Take the initiative Turn your partners interest by including and not excluding them throughout the process Bring his talents and gifts in What is the quality of your relationship in relation to money
  31. 31. Women Make Great Investors • • • • • • • • 1. Women are not afraid to say, ‘I don’t know’ 2. Women are wiling to ask for help. 3. women are great shoppers 4. Women do their Homework 5 Women are Risk-adverse 6. Women have much less Ego 7. Women are Nurturers 8. Women learn from other Women

  35. 35. A Final Thought • • • • Many people say that money I not important in life. That may be true. However money does affect everything that is important your health, your education, and quality of life. Ultimately, money buys you one of two things: it buys you slavery or buys you freedom. Slavery to your job, debt, ad sometimes even slavery to your relationships. Or it buys you freedom to live your life as you choose. By making money important in my life, I have bought my freedom. That is important to me… simply because I hate being told what to do Kim Kiyosaki
  36. 36. Proverbs 31 Woman • • When we examine this ancient biblical ideal of womanhood, we do not find the stereotyped housewife occupied with dirty dishes and laundry, her daily life dictated by the demands of her husband and her children. Nor do we find a hardened, overly ambitious career woman who leaves her family to fend for itself. What we find is a strong, dignified, multitalented, caring woman who is an individual in her own right. This woman has money to invest, servants to look after and real estate to manage. She is her husband’s partner, and she is completely trusted with the responsibility for their lands, property and goods.
  37. 37. Proverbs 31 Woman • • She has the business skills to buy and sell in the market, along with the heartfelt sensitivity and compassion to care for and fulfill the needs of people who are less fortunate. Cheerfully and energetically she tackles the challenges each day brings. Her husband and children love and respect her for her kind, generous and caring nature. But with all her responsibilities, first and foremost, she looks to God. Her primary concern is God’s will in her life. She is a woman after God’s own heart. Let’s examine the characteristics of this remarkable woman — a role model for Christian women today.
  38. 38. Proverbs 31 Woman • • The model woman described in Proverbs is a portrait of ideal womanhood. The focus of this portrait is a woman’s relationship with God, not her specific abilities or marital status. The Proverbs 31 woman realizes that regardless of her natural talents or acquired skills, or all her accomplishments, her strength comes from God. Who is a virtuous woman today? Proverbs 31 tells you that it is the woman who puts God first. The ideal woman of Proverbs 31 should encourage all women everywhere. Cultures change, but this woman’s God-inspired character still shines brightly across the centuries.
