Remedial Courses

  1. 1. Stay Teachable Remedial Courses! Francis E. MADOJEMU
  2. 2. Perfect Lacking Nothing! James 1:2-4 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
  3. 3. Perfect Lacking Nothing! Don’t let the word perfect throw you: It can be translated mature, and we also need to remember we mature in aspects. [ Galatians declares the fruit of the spirit is love but shows different as aspects] Note the play of words, perfect and complete.
  4. 4. Perfect Lacking Nothing! This means you can be perfect or matured and incomplete, meaning you may have grown up and be developed but can have parts missing or immature and complete, which is being fully developed and yet undeveloped mentally. God wants both.
  5. 5. Perfect Lacking Nothing! 1:4 Perfect does not denote absolute sinlessness, but carries the idea of being fully developed or mature. Complete underscores the thought of fullness and wholeness.
  6. 6. Perfect As God Is! Matthew 5:48 48 “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
  7. 7. Perfect As God Is! The emphasis in the command to be perfect is not on a flawless moral nature, but on an all-inclusive love that seeks the good of all.
  8. 8. Perfect As God Is! Instead of following the example of sinners who love only those who love them, we are to be like the Father in also loving those who do not love us.
  9. 9. Fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Note it is singular fruit of not fruits of, but it as aspects.
  10. 10. Fruit of the Flesh Galatians 5:19-21 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
  11. 11. Both Are Practices Galatians 5:19-21 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
  12. 12. To Practice or Not To Practice Notice the word “practice” which means we do not have to do them, we have a choice to practice basketball or football in the same way we can choose not to practice these things.
  13. 13. We Even Have Small Sins We also must notice the list of these works of the flesh which we in the church have narrowed to adultery and fornication as being the most important but God wants us to deal with even the so called “little ones.”
  14. 14. Why? Song of Solomon 2:15 15 Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes. THE SHULAMITE
  15. 15. Main Courses and Remedial Courses Almost all American community colleges offer remedial reading, writing, and mathematics courses. Remedial programs are designed to help students catch up academically by teaching basic academic skills.
  16. 16. Main Courses and Remedial Courses remedial courses serve about two-fifths of students at In a given year, public community colleges and about one-fourth of students at private two-year colleges in the United States. Remedial courses are less common at four-year colleges.
  17. 17. Main Courses and Remedial Courses These courses are not the main courses they were admitted to learn but are necessary to help them succeed.
  18. 18. Main Courses and Remedial Courses For any student to concentrate on these courses and not do what they were admitted to do would ultimately lead to failure!
  19. 19. Main Courses and Remedial Courses in Church! In the same way in the church it seems as though we still major on the minors and minor on the majors.
  20. 20. Main Courses and Remedial Courses in Church! There are courses in our Christian walk that are remedial and not our main course structure for example:
  21. 21. Remedial Courses Healing Deliverance Prosperity Breakthrough
  22. 22. Good but not Best! While these are good in themselves and provide us with relief it can many times obscure us from seeing and doing Gods ultimate courses some of which are:
  23. 23. Main Courses Salvation. Health Equipping for Service Wealth
  24. 24. Main Courses These main courses swallow up the needs in the remedial ones and we are then expected graduate to fulfill purpose by developing Character necessary to fulfill destiny.
  25. 25. Why is this important? God is in the restoration business! Notice the terms used in the bible,
  26. 26. Why is this important? Genesis 1:27-28 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
  27. 27. Why is this important? Did Adam need Healing, Deliverance Prosperity or breakthrough in the Garden of Eden?
  28. 28. The Same is Happening in Society & Education
  29. 29. DESCHOOLING SOCIETY  By IVAN ILLICH Many students, especially those who are poor, intuitively know what the schools do for them. They school them to confuse process and substance. Once these become blurred, a new logic is assumed: the more treatment there is, the better are the results; or, escalation leads to success." "
  30. 30. DESCHOOLING SOCIETY  By IVAN ILLICH "The pupil is thereby "schooled" to confuse teaching with learning, grade advancement with education, a diploma with competence, and fluency with the ability to say something new. His imagination is "schooled" to accept service in place of value."
  31. 31. DESCHOOLING SOCIETY  By IVAN ILLICH "Medical treatment is mistaken for health care, social work for the improvement of community life, police protection for safety, military poise for national security, the rat race for productive work."
  32. 32. DESCHOOLING SOCIETY  By IVAN ILLICH "Health, learning, dignity, independence, and creative endeavor are defined as little more than the performance of the institutions which claim to serve these ends, and their improvement is made to depend on allocating more resources to the management of hospitals, schools, and other agencies in question."
  33. 33. Slavery, Deliverance & Freedom Dr Myles teaches that there is a big difference between slavery, deliverance & freedom and I think the church stopped at deliverance not freedom
  34. 34. ^iBridge_Hub This why  I am so excited abut the ^iBridge_Hub we are formally opening for our anniversary I would get to work everyday with believers and unbelievers in tapping creativity and shaping minds to freedom
  35. 35. Born Again Once! How do I enter the kingdom, Jesus was teaching Nicodemus! That's our destination not just being born again  Seek ye first the kingdom Salvation has a purpose to know the king & come into his kingdom
  36. 36. The New Birth John 3:1-6 1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “ Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
  37. 37. The New Birth John 3:1-6 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “ Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
  38. 38. Born Again Once! Its like getting an american visa & a ticket to enter the kingdom of the US & then an oath to become a citizen & come under the laws & protection of the American Government!
  39. 39. The Biblical definition of Restoration Job 42:10-12 10 And the LORD restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. 11 Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the LORD had brought upon him.
  40. 40. The Biblical definition of Restoration Job 42:10-12 Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.12 Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
  41. 41. The Biblical definition of Restoration According to the dictionary, “to restore” means to “bring back to the former or original condition.”
  42. 42. The Biblical definition of Restoration When something is restored in the scriptures, however, its always increased, multiplied or improved so that its latter state is significantly better than is original state.
  43. 43. God is in the ReBusiness: Redeemed, Restore, Recovered, Revelation etc
  44. 44. God is in the Re-Business: Joel 2:21-26 25 “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. 26 You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame.
  45. 45. The Ultimate Restoration! The ultimate restoration is the return of the church, the bride of Christ, to the majesty and glory God intended for her.
  46. 46. Restoration of All Things Acts 3:21 21 “whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
  47. 47. What is Restoration Restoration means becoming all that God originally intended the church be.
  48. 48. What is Restoration Remember restoration means the establishment of something more and better than the original.
  49. 49. What is Restoration Restoration also means the release of Gods Power without measure through the church.
  50. 50. These Remedial Courses are Vital They demonstrate that the kingdom of God is here
  51. 51. The Kingdom of God is Here Matthew 9:35-38 35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.36 But when He saw the multitudes,
  52. 52. The Kingdom of God is Here Matthew 9:35-38 He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 “Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
  53. 53. The Kingdom of God is Here Matthew 10:1, 5-10 1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. 5 These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. 6 “But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
  54. 54. The Kingdom of God is Here Matthew 10:1, 5-10 7 “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.9 “Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts,10 “nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food.
  55. 55. Kingdom vs. Kingdom It’s Kingdom vs. Kingdom and the healings and deliverances are the bonuses in the Kingdom of God He reinforces this concept when john asks if He is the one!
  56. 56. Matthew 11:1-5 1 Now it came to pass, when Jesus finished commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities. 2 And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples
  57. 57. Kingdom vs. Kingdom Matthew 11:1-5 3 and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” 4 Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: 5 “The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
  58. 58. Kingdom vs. Kingdom Luke 4:16-21 16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
  59. 59. Kingdom vs. Kingdom Luke 4:16-21 18 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.” 20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
  60. 60. Bottom line: There is the good news of the coming of Kingdom of God and its benefits the restoration and remedy of mans challenges and bring the world back to what God originally intended it to be.
