In an emergency dial 911Explain difference between a ER and a Trauma CenterMadigan’s Emergency Room (ER) is available for medical and traumatic emergencies at all times. The ER is accessible through an entrance on Gardner Loop. Upon arrival, specially trained nurses evaluate each patient to determine those who require the most urgent attention. The degree of urgency, not arrival time, establishes who will be seen first. Waiting times range from fewer than 30 minutes to five hours or more, and typically increase throughout the day. Evaluation takes 15 to 30 minutes; or up to several hours if laboratory tests, X-rays or other special studies are required. Weekends and holidays are especially busy because most other hospital services and outlying clinics are closed.
Explain locationExplain various patient-only parking areasWhile parking is available at all Madigan Healthcare System facilities, patients and visitors are encouraged to arrive early for appointments and visits, as space becomes extremely limited at all locations during main operating hours.
Explain campus layout and how medical mall is mainly the location of primary care portals as opposed to the hospital tower area (darkened area) that houses primarily inpatient and specialty clinics.
