Target Audience
The targetaudience/preferred reading for The Real Momagers of America would be females within the ages of 18-35 as they
perhaps relate to some of the situations but also to some of the women. They would watch the show for entertainment due to
the reality format being purely for entertainment. Teenagers male and female between the ages of 13-19 would take a negotiated
reading to the text as it again is a show set up purely for the audiences entertainment therefore they would watch it to get a
sense of enjoyment. Fans of the Real Housewives franchise would also be an important audience as the fan base is massive and
they would enjoy this show as all the Real Housewife shows generally fit the same mold, just with different scenarios. Fans of the
women would also be interested in the show as they would be willing to watch their favourite celebrities all on one show – the
fan base would also increase with the chance of the celebrity children being on the show, but also to see family dynamics and see
if any secrets are told about the children. People may also watch the show as apart of social integration whereby they may have
to watch it to feel involved with their peers or online, seen through trending topics on Facebook and Twitter. We would attract the
target audience by marketing each individual Momager and their qualities and achievements, but also put together a montage of
the season, focusing on the drama and comedy aspect of the show.

Oppositional Reading
Typically menin the ages of 40-65+ may take an oppositional reading to the
show due to its main focus around women, of who the show is typically geared
towards. As it is a reality television show or ‘trash TV’, some of the public may
not enjoy this format due to the constant disbelief that it is reality, but instead
scripted/constructed like popular shows such as The Only Way Is Essex. Other
members of the audience may not be interested in any of the franchise and
therefore take a immediate dislike to the show. Others may have a strong dislike
to some of the women in the cast therefore they may refuse to watch it.
Although the women in the show have a high income and are internationally
known that may fall into section A of the socioeconomic margin, other people in
this category may not watch the show due to it creating a negative
representation of a certain group or place.

Broadcasting
The Real Housewivesfranchise originates from US cable network Bravo, with the executive producer Andy Cohen who also hosts
the reunion shows for the Housewife shows. The shows would be broadcast on ITV2 and Lifetime as these channels generally only
cater to entertainment, with Lifetime hosting a series of reality shows like; Dance Moms, Vanderpump Rules and Hoarders. ITV2
would also be a key network as they host Housewives shows, specifically focusing on entertainment but also comedy through the
reality format. Bravo and Lifetime have similar target audiences being females within the ages of 18-35, as opposed to ITV2 which
cater for 18-35 males and females. All three networks do target a D-F audience when using the socioeconomic margin.
E! Entertainment could also be a possible network to broadcast from as they focus on reality television with the same audience,
E! also currently show re-runs of The Real Housewives of Orange County, and may want to obtain the rights to the show due to
Kris Jenner having an involvement with it, which would mean that the show would be broadcast on all E! networks around the
world.
