MIPI DevCon 2016: How Has the Mobile Evolution Influenced Other Industries?

MIPI is now expanding its focus from intra-device connectivity to include device-to-device connectivity. However, areas such as plug-and-play, authentication and security are still limited in their adaptability for autonomous systems. Toshiba Corporation's Takeshi Yoshimoto discusses the anticipation of those needs with the development of automotive-qualified solutions that use MIPI interfaces for image recognition processors used in current ADAS systems, as well as UFS memories and bridging devices connecting cameras and high-resolution graphical displays. These new designs will assist the development of autonomous cars and other systems. Unifying the evolution of MIPI interfaces with automotive needs will be Toshiba’s next challenge in driving the expanding adoption of MIPI.
