 Fully understand the musical meaning of a theme ‘theme’.
 Be able to match the sound of orchestral instruments with a different character.
 Describe personalities and movements of different characters by using descriptive
words (adjectives).
 Predict how characters will be represented by using musical vocabulary (pitch, tempo,
dynamics & articulation)

 It is a story and Russian fairy-tale that was originally composed for ballet.
 It contains seven characters who each have a musical theme.
 This theme represents different traits and qualities that represent each character’s
personality, actions & movements.
