Outlook for Week of May 14, 2018

  1. 1. Reversal Levels - Outlook for week of May 14, 2018  Number of S&P 500 stocks in bullish trends (blue line): 263 (53%) versus 240 last week.  Number of S&P 500 stocks in daily bullish mode (red line): 302 (60%) versus 217 last week.  Situation is turning bullish, the number of stocks in bullish trends has climbed above the 50% level. The red line is back above the blue line, suggesting a continuing rally. It’s becoming increasingly likely the correction is over. ©
  2. 2.  ELC: down. BMO: up. Blue snake: down, but nearly flat.  The recent correction could be over. As long as BMO goes up we are at least in a significant rebound rally. If ELC turns up it would confirm a bull market continuation. © S&P 500 Weekly chart
  3. 3.  Buy signal for S&P 500. All major stock indexes are back to bullish trends.  Bonds TLT stay fully bearish.  Gold is weak bullish. Holds only just above its RevL so is at risk of starting a new bearish trend.  EURUSD is in a fresh bearish trend.  Oil is fully bullish and gradually adding to gains. Still no signs of a top.  Wheat stays fully bullish but has dropped back below the 500 level. © Major indices
  4. 4.  Buy signals for Canada TSX, Spain IBEX, Sweden OMX30 and Dow Transports.  Significant improvement and we now have a clear majority of world markets in bullish trends again. For how long is unknown. World markets ©
  5. 5.  Buy signal for XOM.  Speculative Buy signal for MMM.  17 stocks bullish, up from 16 last week. Above 20 = bull market. See article: Keeping an eye on the Dow stocks  Another small improvement, but more will be needed to confirm a continuation of the bull market.  When the number of bullish stocks climbs back above 20 we will have a strong indication that the correction or bear market is over. . 30 Dow Jones Industrials stocks ©
  6. 6.  Partial profits signal for USDTRY. A 21% gain in 32 weeks.  Currencies tend to make long trending moves, so we don’t get weekly Buy or Sell signals very often.  For daytraders or swing traders: if you do your trading in the direction of the weekly trend you are likely to do well in the long run. So, try to buy the pullbacks in currencies pairs that are in weekly bullish trends and sell the rips during weekly bearish trends. Currencies ©
