June 19th 2019 Amsterdam Sensemakers Internet of Things Meetup. Talk 1: The Internet of Things: Surfing past the trough of disillusionment. Lorna Goulden is the founder of the Eindhoven Internet of Things meetup and one of the initiators of the Eindhoven The Things Network community. She will present some of the challenges and insights from almost four years organising an IoT Meetup and her personal focus on "optimistically trying to uncover truly valuable applications". She will also reflect on what she calls 'value driven' approaches, which she believes should give an extra boost to The Internet of Things past the emerging technology hype - and the inevitable dip into what Gartner calls the trough of disillusionment - to uncover more relevant and meaningful applications.
