  • Welcome The purpose of this session is to review the functionality and features of the Sage BusinessWorks v6 Job Cost Module. Too many users of BusinessWorks consider JOB COST to be related only to construction of a tangible rather than a collection of costs. Too many think JC is difficult and complicated for their use, then they re-enter data in a spreadsheet to collect the information that the JC module was designed to do.
  • Job - The basic tracking unit in Job Cost, a job is any task or service that involves the use of materials, labor, overhead, or any other resources. A job tracks all expenditures and revenue associated with a project or service. Phase - Phases define the stages needed to complete a job. Phases may group sequential activities, activities for different cost centers, or any other grouping convenient to your type of business. A job must have at least one phase. Job Codes - Job codes identify different types of costs for a phase. Cost types include labor, materials, subcontracting, equipment, overhead, and miscellaneous items. You can assign one or more job codes to each phase, though job codes are not required. One phase is required for any job. Showing detail is optional for each phase. Start easy – then add detail to future jobs if necessary.
