  6. 6. Claiming Your Listings Start by searching for your business on the major local search channels: • Google, Yahoo!, and Bing Maps • • • InfoUSA (database provider) • NAVTEQ (GPS provider) @Location3
  7. 7. Claiming Your Listings Make sure you protect your business information by claiming your listings. • This will prevent unwanted edits by internet users, including competitors • Look for the link that says “Claim this listing” or “Business owner?” @Location3

  9. 9. Optimizing Content Start by making sure that your basic information is correct. • Contact: Address, phone, email, website, hours of operation • Description: Create a basic description of what you do @Location3
  10. 10. Optimizing Content Determine which search terms are most relevant to your business and develop a keyword theme. • What terms would someone use to find your product/service? • Use Google’s Keyword Tool: KeywordToolExternal • Incorporate these keywords into content, but be subtle @Location3

Optimizing Content Enhance your listings with additional content for search relevancy and a better user experience. • Store photos, logos and video • Coupons in Google listings • Links to your social media profiles • Other details such as brands carried, types of payment accepted and languages spoken @Location3
