Wells Fargo
Federal regulators are preparing to fine Wells Fargo a record $1B after the bank was found to be charging customers unnecessary fees. Wells Fargo has been roiled by scandals since 2016, after millions of fake accounts were uncovered.

Opioid
The number of opioid prescriptions filled in the U.S. fell drastically in 2017 — the biggest drop in 25 years, says health data firm IQVIA. President Trump declared the opioid epidemic a public health emergency in October.

H-1B
Tech companies scored more H-1B visas in 2017 than the previous year. Amazon and Cognizant were among the firms obtaining the most.
