"We opened our first Tory Sport boutique in New York City, launched our inaugural Tory Burch Foundation Fellows Program, participated in the first ever White House - United State of Women Summit, and the list goes on. For an entrepreneur there is nothing more exciting than a first – the moment you put your hard work out into the world, watch it take off and have a life of its own.

"So needless to say, when I sat down with LinkedIn’s Dan Roth we had an abundance of topics to cover because with any entrepreneurial “first” you also have countless new insights, stories and goals. Here are a few of the topics we covered.

"My advice for entrepreneurs…

"I am amazed by how many people say they want to be an entrepreneur but they don’t yet have an idea or product. Start with your passion for something. You’ll need that passion to fuel you through the inevitable challenges. And remember to pay your dues first. Every job I had taught me the value of hard work and tenacity and allowed me to discover what kind of leader and business person I wanted to be.

"Technology and our customers…

"Our customer is changing. She is coming into the boutique with her mobile device, knowing exactly what she wants before she arrives. Companies today need to work harder to have authentic and personalized relationships with their customers in-store and online."
