Tax bill confusion
The $1.5 trillion tax overhaul passed by Congress this week will go into effect in 12 days, and it has payroll companies rushing to adjust to its new withholding rules. As the Treasury and IRS rush to write new regulations, the impact on paychecks in dollars and cents is not yet clear.
 
Ford
A New York Times report details a culture of harassment and discrimination at Ford Motor, which reached a related $10.1 million settlement in August. Multiple incidents happened at two Chicago-area plants, reportedly over a 25-year period. 
 
Uber
Uber appointed its first COO, former Orbitz chief Barney Harford. Harford, who worked with CEO Dara Khosrowshahi at Expedia, will oversee Uber’s ridesharing operations, marketing, customer support, and food delivery business.
