SAP BI BusinessObjects (BOBJ) customers tell us it's a challenge to monitor and manage BOBJ's availability, performance and alerts from an Enterprise operations. We rose to the challenge and introduced both an on-premise as well as cloud-based solution for monitoring and managing BOBJ. We will take a tour of the solution and explain the benefits while demonstrating the features and benefits:
Availability
1) BI Enterprise Nodes and Servers availability is monitored via BI CMS Web Services.
2) BI Windows Services (such as SIA and Tomcat) are monitored locally using SCOM Agent (on-premise solution)
Performance Monitoring
1) Various monitoring perspective such as Enterprise Nodes, Servers, Probes and Windows Services with a growing list of performance counters, which can be charted in Performance views and Dashboards
2) Alert Management
3) BI Events are managed as Alert.
4) Server Trace-logs entries are continuously monitored for the new entries, that are forwarded to SCOM Alerts (on-premise solution).
5) Alert filtering and suppression is supported allowing for flexible alert management.
