According to Rod Raymond, “The Duluth Trail Fest is arguably the most beautiful and unique trail running festival in the world.” It lures the runner looking for a fun, adrenaline-filled weekend: Day One: A true athletic challenge, this almost 5K route starts on a steep vertical climb at Chester Bowl (race runs right on Olympic training ski jumps). Carved into Duluth’s hillside, Chester Bowl’s trails offer a setting reminiscent of a national park system. Day Two – Trail runners will absolutely love the renegade 15K single track route that runs through a virgin deciduous forest on the Superior Hiking Trail. Inspiring scenic overlooks make navigation through some hilly sections more than worthwhile. The finishing descent into a fern gully will leave runners energized as they head for the finish-line at the Lake Superior Zoo. Day Three – Stride along Lake Superior beachfront before running on a neighboring trail system that meanders through a pine forest and by ancient ruins. Finish at the Park Point beach house where you may choose to take a dip in Lake Superior. A participant last year said, "This was the best weekend of my life. The DTF is a must-do race.
