I’m well aware that my friends invited me round to reassure their parents that I was eating. That was my community. US We need to be there for young people. Every young person is trying to find their way… Sometimes, we only need that little nudge to become something we could never have imagined. NOW In my area, so many kids were raised to feel that dreams don’t really happen for kids like us… We need to ask one simple question: Why not?   • 29. @Sch4Change #S4CA SELF If you can put yourself in my position – I'm 29 years old, I know I've got cancer, I think it's confined to my abdomen... I'm in a side room… A junior doctor comes to see me… I'd never met this doctor before. He came into my room, he sat down in the chair next to me and looked away from me. Without any warning or asking if I wanted anyone with me he just said, “Your cancer has spread”. US To introduce ourselves, to say “Hello, my name is…” is something simple we can all do... Patients are people and we should treat everyone we look after like a member of our own family… NOW If we get the simple things right for students now in their careers, that’s going to bode well for the future of healthcare.
