  2. 2.  In one case the firm argued on behalf of 400 individuals who had filed against the St. Croix Renaissance Group (SCRG) in Virgin Islands state court. SCRG, owners of a refinery on the island, contested that the trial should be heard in federal court, a motion that was denied by a Third Circuit judge under the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005 (CAFA). The original charges were levied against SCRG for their decade-long failure to comply with storage regulations regarding toxic industrial byproducts. The unlawful actions of SCRG resulted in chemical exposure for hundreds of local residents.
