  2. 2. The Rebecca Riots happened in Wales between 1839 and 1842. <br />
  3. 3. They were a protest against the high tolls having to be paid on Turnpike Roads.<br />
  4. 4. The first of the riots was on 6th June 1839. <br />

  6. 6. The leader of the protest was TwnCarnabwth. He wore girls clothes as a disguise.<br />
  7. 7. He borrowed the clothes were borrowed from a lady called Rebecca so they called it the Rebecca Riots.<br />
  8. 8. Two of the ring leaders were caught and were sent to Australia as punishment.<br />
