  3. What is a healthy work environment? A healthy work environment is one in which healthy patterns are cultivated and integrated into the company’s work culture. Unlike toxic work environments, healthy workplaces have positive, open, and honest internal communication. According to the World Health Organization, four elements constitute a healthy work environment. •Health and safety in the physical work environment •Health and safety in the psychosocial work environment •Personal health resources in the workplace •Community participation and consideration As stated in the WHO’s outline, healthy work environments are much more than a nutrition campaign or employee gym membership. Although these initiatives are helpful, psychosocial health, safety, and community participation should not be overlooked.
  4. Mentally healthy work environment Offering employees a gym membership and fruit does not necessarily equate to a healthy work environment. Offering these benefits doesn’t hurt, however, it doesn’t cover the entirety of health by any means. Employee mental health is equally, if not more important than physical health at work. Here are some ways to promote healthy relations, reduce stress, and create a more empathetic work environment.
  5. IMPROVE BREAKTIME AREAS While most companies will already have designated areas for breaks, it’s important to assess if they’re really conducive to rest and recovery. For instance, some provide their employees with books, snack bars, and coffee machines to help them destress and get their energy back. Moreover, some employees may use break rooms to socialise, while others might prefer some peace and quiet, so it would be thoughtful to provide quiet nooks where they can relax.
  6. In Summary Creating a healthy workplace environment does not have to be difficult or costly. A healthy workplace environment improves productivity and reduces costs related to absenteeism, turnover, workers’ compensation, and medical claims. A summary, there are four aspects to look into when creating a healthy workplace environment: •Workplace culture •Physical environment and occupational health & safety •Health and lifestyle practice •Supportive workplace environment It is ideal when it comes to maintaining a positive outcome in a stressful atmosphere. Deal with problems as soon as possible and regularly ask for feedback on how your workplace could be improved. Good luck in creating a healthy workplace environment!
