Change is needed

  1. 1. Research suggests I should appeal to today's youth and boost not only their interest, but their achievement this is incorrect “ students need to rote learn information” as a teacher I inform my students reciting information holds greater importance than higher order thinking, creativity and problem solving teachers will see that rows of desks triumphs over collaborative learning this is something I know “ education teaches students how to think” this is no longer the case educators should teach students what to think research inaccurately suggests rather than teaching them, I should let students discover it for themselves cooperative and collaborative learning is not encouraged nor is the belief that learning is a social process it is not thought that students are learning if they are interested schools are on the right track if students needs and interests are insignificant it is pointless to think that change is needed All of this will remain true of 21st century education unless I choose to reverse it.
