Editor's Notes

  • The lesson is a great material for teachers in charge of general education classes. In Polish educational system such classes are obligatory weekly meetings during which teachers are supposed to address topical issues. He choice of topic is very likely to develop in learners the feelings of empathy and understanding for the hardships of physical disability. The material can be easily used by the students at home and then discussed in class. The lesson also bridges different school subject and works towards an interdisciplinary teaching, which is a weak point of Polish education. It also promotes tolerance and sensitivity to individual differences, both of which are badly needed in Polish monocultural society.
