  2. 2. As a golf beginner, it takes time to understand the game and master it. Here are some tips that can help you get a solid foundation for golf improvement.
  3. 3. Tip #1 - Grip Different from grabbing the club and gripping it like a baseball bat, you want your thumb to run along the top of the grip going down. (see the picture above) Image from http://free-online-golf-tips.com/
  4. 4. Tip #2 - Posture The right approach, how you stand in front of the ball, is the key to a successful golf player. Always remember that you want to find a approach you feel comfortable with. A standard approach is slightly bent knees, upper body leaning over the ball, but not hunched, arms out in front of you, but not overly extended, and your feet should stay shoulder width apart. 5. 5. Tip #3 - Swing Three steps for a good golf swing are the take away, impact and follow through. • During take away and impact, it is best to keep your feet planted, and keep your head and upper body still. • During the follow through, look at where the ball. As you bring the club back, try to keep your lead arm as straight as possible, rotating your hips and transitioning your weight to your back foot. • As you come down for impact, your hips should begin forward rotation while your weight should shift to your lead foot. • Keep your eye on the ball and allow your hips to continue rotating. At the end of your swing, your upper torso should be facing the hole. (see the image above) Image from http://free-online-golf-tips.com/
  6. 6. Tip #4 - Lessons It can be quite challenging for a beginner to pick up the game and play it in the proper way, especially for the posture and swing. Therefore it is always a good option to take a golf lesson or two before going out. Remember if you start own your own and do it in a wrong way, you might get some bad habits that early golfs have. Most golf courses have a pro shop with a golf pro that has the necessary skills and qualifications to help you start on the right foot in the game of golf.
