In Gary Vaynerchuk’s book, “Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook,” he lays out a social
media and content marketing philosophy of engagement and selling. Using a
boxing metaphor, Vaynerchuk makes the case that marketers must first “jab,”
that is, engage prospects with purely helpful and informational content. Only
after the prospect has engaged should the marketer throw the “right hook” and
hit the prospect with the hard sell.
