KEY COMPETENCESTHE CHALLENGE OFTHE NEXTYEARSKey competences are a reference model for education and training in Europe(Reccomendation of European Parliament and of European Council18/12/2006 - 2006/962/CE - Joint Progress Report 2010).Key competences are often acquired anddeveloped in non-formal and informal contexts;this makes them not assessed nor recognizedand consequently not used by adults for theirpersonal and professional improvement.With VINTAGE project we wanted to meet this challenge by developing aframework for the assessment of Key competences and an ONLINE DIGITALTOOL FOR SELF ASSESSMENTOF KEY COMPETENCES.
HOWTO MEET THE CHALLENGEVINTAGE aims todescribe the European background valorising existing strategies andapproaches for the assessment of skills and competencesrealize a framework, with a set of indicators and descriptors for theassessment of key competences and a checklist to guide the self-assessment according to standardized levelsrealize, on the basis of the designed framework, an online tool forthe self-assessment of the key competencestest the framework involving trainers/teachers; test theonline tool involving adult learners

VINTAGE FRAMEWORKIt consists in:1. an explanation of each of theeight key competences;2. with a set of descriptors ofmastery referring to differentvalues, for example notadequate, adequate, good,excellent;3. a checklist for the self-assessment of each keycompetence according toexisting standards and criteria.PILOT RUN 1TRAINERS, PRACTITIONERS
BASIC PORTFOLIOThe BASIC PORTFOLIO consists in aformat (grid or other) where adult andelderly learners can record the results ofthe self-assessment of key competences.It is intended to be a tool guiding people to completewith awareness the self evaluation of keycompetences on the basis of the designed framework.
