  4. 4.  Assistive Technology – Assistive Technology helps to level the playing field to allow both learning and physically challenged students to succeed in the mainstream world, creating normalcy and preserving self-esteem. (Source www.educationworld.com)  There are some assistive technology products that can be placed in the media center for students with disabilities. The following are a list of those products:  SmartView 360 – It is a monitor that serves as magnifying glass/mirror, students with visual limitations can use this to zoom in on items in a room or on a computer.  Talking Book Player – will read the book for you.  Jaws 6.0 Pro – speaks the words as you navigate Windows menus, screens, and the text of websites
  5. 5.  Bookshare.org – an online library of digital books for people with disabilities. Once the book is downloaded it can then be read to the student. Through the U.S. Department of Education, all schools have access to bookshare.  Reading Machine – a website with 32 links that helps struggling learners with reading and writing.
