  2. 2. Ever wonder about that universal service charge on your phone bill?<br />That’s how companies recover the cost they are required to contribute to fund the E-rate program.<br />
  3. 3. What is E-Rate?<br />Mandated in 1996 by Congress<br />FCC is required to help make telecommunications and informational services more affordable for schools and libraries by providing discounts<br />
  4. 4. How does it work?<br />A school or library must develop a technology plan that explains how the technology for which it seeks support will be used to achieve educational goals, specific curriculum reforms, or library service improvements.<br />

Budget and Funding :<br />Total amount of Title II, Part D formula funds received for the current year of this plan: $67,059.00<br />Budget for year 2009-2012 Percent of Total Budget<br />Teaching and Learning: $8,044,488 58% <br />Educator Preparation and Development: $1,609,337 12% <br />Leadership, Administration and Support: $1,379,117 10% <br />Infrastructure for Technology: $2,758,235 20%<br />Total: $13,791,177<br />

As you can see our district wants to invest most of it’s technology budget in YOU!!!<br />So, what can you do to develop yourself this year (in regards to technology)?<br />You need to create a plan as a team as to how you will add more technology in your classrooms and in turn create actively engaged students.<br />
  10. 10. What will it take?<br />The integration of technology into our schools can transform the teaching process by improving interest, inquiry, analysis, collaboration, creativity and content production. <br />Teachers must be facilitators, mentors, and co-learners enabling the student to be flexible and explorative in learning. <br />
