Space Race <ul><li>The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) had been created in 1958. </li></ul><ul><li>Competition between the Soviet Union and U.S. to develop technology to successfully land on the moon. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>John Glenn= first man to orbit earth </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>July 1969=Neil Armstrong became first man on the moon </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Increased focus on science and math in American schools. </li></ul>
