  5. 5. Why we started this company Japan is entrenched in the 20th century model of business and society. It is necessary to make new ideas and voices be heard by Japanese policymakers, industry leaders, and the public.
  6. 6. However, with traditionally weak civil society and lacking a public affairs industry, Japan lacks communications and advocacy proffesionals to promote new ideas and voices. Why we started this company
  7. 7. That is where we come in. With expertise in public policy and communications, We advocate for the innovators.
  8. 8. 20th century Japan Big Government Big Media Big Businesses Big Pressure Groups Collusive relationship among big stakeholders traditionally with in- house lobbyists meant no need for independent public affairs agencies.
  9. 9. 21th century Japan -- system falling apart; new players in the scene. New Media Civil Society New Businesses (21
  10. 10. ISSUES SOLUTION Failing Economy (経済低迷) ● Entrepreneurship ● New technology ● New social design ● Community engagement ● Youth Empowerment ● Vibrant Culture (新しいビジネスモデル、新しい科学技術、新 しい社会システム、コミュニティ再生、若者の エンパワメント、生き生きした文化) Aging Society (少子高齢化) Rural depopulation (地方の疲弊) Rising intolarance (非寛容な社会)

  15. 15. Project examples Flexible Copyright for Creative Culture (創造的な文化のための柔軟な著作権制度) Promoting Social Impact Investment (社会的インパクト投資の普及啓発) Promoting Digital Diplomacy (デジタル外交の提唱)
  16. 16. No.1 Innovation Focus (イノベーション特化) We only take on projects that have some elements of innovation -- whether it be business, technological, social, or cultural. We don’t take on projects simply to protect the status quo. How we are different: 3 basic principles(3原則)
  17. 17. No.2 Social Good(ソーシャルグッド) We only take on projects that we believe have a definite positive social impact. Even when some stakeholoders disagree, we want to be confident about the ultimate positive effect of our project. How we are different: 3 basic principles(3原則)
  18. 18. No.3 No Rent-seeking(レントシーキング禁止) Rent-seeking is seeking to increase one's share of existing wealth without creating new wealth, through means such as regulatory capture. We strongly denounce rent-seeking and will not take part in it. How we are different: 3 basic principles(3原則)
