  8. 8. Burrowing Owls <ul><li>It is 9 -11 inches tall and 23 inches long. It is very small and pudgy. It loves heat. These owls have a loud hoot. </li></ul><ul><li>It adapts to its environment by burrowing into hole in the ground when a predator approaches. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Cactus Mouse <ul><li>A cactus mouse needs less water than other mice. </li></ul><ul><li>It can live in hotter temperatures. </li></ul><ul><li>It hoards food. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Chuckwallas <ul><li>Before doing anything else, chuckwallas bask in the sun until the optimal body temperature of 100 - 105 degrees F. is reached. </li></ul><ul><li>Chuckwallas are herbivores. </li></ul>
  11. 11. Prairie Dogs <ul><li>Most Prairie Dogs hibernate during the winter. </li></ul><ul><li>Prairie Dogs make different sounds identifying various predators. </li></ul>
