  6. 6. Looking forward We have to broaden our view
  7. 7. We have to broaden our view not only agriculture we need sustainable food systems
  8. 8. Breaking Taboos ..efficient agriculture=efficient food system.. ..food has to be cheap...
  9. 9. Comparing SDGs to what organic agriculture delivers Increase productivity of subsistence & small holder farms Strongly reduce ne- gative environmental externalities Foster learning and cooperation of farmers Use ecosystem functions for pro- ductivity increase Create value addition in food chains Reduce poverty of farm families Foster farmer-owned knowledge instead of external inputs & knowledge Increase global food production by ~ 50 %.         Stabilize and secure yields of cash crops (and staple foods?).  Literature to be found: Niggli, U (2014) Sustainability of Organic Food Production: Challenges and Innovations. Proceedings of the Nutrition Society. doi:10.1017/S0029665114001438, 6 pages. Increase agronomic and ecological resilience
  10. 10. Vision Paper In 2030 food systems will produce healthy nutritious foods, produced through input-efficient methods and supporting a thriving environment. Food Systems will operate as collaborative networks, that are constantly improving to improve their economic, environmental and social performance for all actors in the network, and those food systems can be region specific, in local territories, but also global. The food systems contribute to the achievement of a wide range of objectives as captured by the SDG’s and contributes to mitigating climate change impacts, and adapting to negative consequences of climate change. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jPPnH5D AsLHeD5kRlWUEGKY090v2OHvDy1PHl_W FYzc/edit#
