Eucharistic Prayer CBook of Common Prayerpg. 369
The Lord be with you.And also with you.Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.Let us give thanks to the Lordour God.It is right to give him thanksand praise.
God of all power, Ruler ofthe Universe, you areworthy of glory and praise.Glory to you for ever andever.
At your command all thingscame to be: the vast expanseof interstellarspace, galaxies, suns, theplanets in their courses, andthis fragile earth, our islandhome.By your will they were createdand have their being.
From the primal elements youbrought forth the humanrace, and blessed us withmemory, reason, and skill. Youmade us the rulers of creation. But we turned againstyou, and
betrayed your trust; and weturned against oneanother.Have mercy, Lord, for weare sinners in your sight.
Again and again, you calledus to return. Throughprophets and sages yourevealed your righteousLaw. And in the fullness oftime you sent your onlySon, born of a woman,
to fulfill your Law, to open forus the way of freedom andpeace.By his blood, he reconciled us.By his wounds, we are healed.
And therefore we praise you, joining with the heavenlychorus, with prophets, apostles, and martyrs,
and with all those in everygeneration who have lookedto you in hope, to proclaimwith them your glory, in theirunending hymn:
Holy, holy, holy Lord,God of power and might, heaven and earth are full ofyour glory.Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in thename of the Lord.Hosanna in the highest.
And so, Father, we who havebeen redeemed by him, andmade a new people by waterand the Spirit, now bringbefore you these gifts. Sanctifythem by your Holy Spirit to bethe Body and Blood of JesusChrist our Lord.
On the night he wasbetrayed he tookbread, said theblessing, broke thebread, and gave it to hisfriends, and said,
"Take, eat: This is myBody, which is given foryou. Do this for theremembrance of me."
After supper, he took the cupof wine, gave thanks, andsaid, "Drink this, all of you:This is my Blood of the newCovenant, which is shed foryou and for many for the
forgiveness of sins. Wheneveryou drink it, do this for theremembrance of me."
Remembering now his work ofredemption, and offering to youthis sacrifice of thanksgiving,We celebrate his death andresurrection,as we await the day of hiscoming.
Lord God of our Fathers: Godof Abraham, Isaac, andJacob; God and Father ofour Lord Jesus Christ: Openour eyes to see your hand atwork in the world about us.Deliver us from the
presumption of coming tothis Table for solaceonly, and not for strength;for pardon only, and not forrenewal. Let the grace ofthis Holy Communion makeus one body, one spirit
in Christ, that we mayworthily serve the world inhis name.Risen Lord, be known to usin the breaking of theBread.
Accept these prayers andpraises, Father, through JesusChrist our great High Priest, towhom, with you and the HolySpirit, your Church gives honor, glory, and worship, fromgeneration to generation.AMEN.
And now, as our Savior Christhas taught us, we are bold tosay,
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done,on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our dailybread.
