Main Points Large areas of Forest may be dominated by a single species. The trees here are mostly softwood evergreen trees with sharp and narrow needle-like leaves. When it snows heavily, the conical leaves allows the snow to glide down easily. The trees here are light and easy to cut. Therefore, lumbering is practiced on a large scale in these forest.
