What is Boozerebellion and a few words about alcohol marketing.

  1. 1. Action and attitude towards liberating society from glamorizing drunkenness and alcohol. Booze Rebellion (in Finnish: Kännikapina) is a project of Finnish NGO The Friends of Temperance “. Volunteers with various backgrounds have been actively involved.
  2. 2. <ul><li>Booze Rebellion </li></ul><ul><li>questions the role </li></ul><ul><li>of alcohol in our society. </li></ul><ul><li>The Rebellion’s goal is a society where it is easy to be social and sober </li></ul><ul><li>and where </li></ul><ul><li>drinking is not encouraged by peer pressure or advertising and media. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>The majority (75 %) of EU citizens agree that alcohol advertising targeting at young people should be banned in all Member States. </li></ul>In many other countries, e.g. in Finland, the use of elements attractive to youngsters is allowed (for example cartoons, music, humor, partyfeeling, competitions, etc.) <ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>In Sweden only product information is allowed in alcohol marketing. </li></ul></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>In printed advertisements warning text is mandatory. </li></ul></ul></ul></ul></ul>
  4. 4. Alcohol marketing encourages teenagers to start alcohol use younger and seduces those who already have started to consume even more.
