  8. 8. Actual Use of a Smartpen Click the button on the pen to turn it on. livescribe. Notebooks are necessary to activate the pen. The pen is touched to the record button at the bottom of the page notetaking may begin while whatever audio is in the room will be recorded at the same time. When finished, the stop button is touched with the pen tip at the bottom of the page. The pen is turned off until needed again. 3/4/2012

The Ease of Using a SmartpenA docking station for the pen is plugged into thecomputer’s USB port.When pen is placed on this docking/chargingstation – the computer will pull up the LiveScribesoftware and begin downloading everything onthe pen.The notes can be pulled up onto the screen.Anywhere the mouse touches on the notes –therecording from the exact time it was written willbegin to play. 3/4/2012

Next StepsEach pen is purchased with a specific amount ofmemory 1 GB, 2GB, 4GB and moreEach pen can also be used to replay what is inthe notebook until everything has either beendownloaded and/or cleaned off the pen.Therefore there are two ways to replay what wasrecorded: via download to the computer, ordirectly from the pen. 3/4/2012

These libraries havebecome the main source for educating theirteachers and students on items such assmartpens.If the library knows how to use the tool, they helpeducate their community to be able to better usethe resources available. 3/4/2012
