    5. 5. The Mechanical Team <ul><li>The Mechanical Team supports the following departments: I&PS, S&VS, Propulsion, Materials, and Test. Using Unigraphics CAD, CAM, CAE, Solid Edge, Pro-Engineer, VisView, SmartSketch, Delmia Simulation Tools (Envision, Igrip, and Quest), Teamcenter Engineering, and Intralink, we provide the following services: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Technical expertise in software functionality that adhere to NASA organizational standards </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>System support for loading software and configuration changes for optimum performance </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Feedback to software vendors regarding customer response and desired enhancements. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Seminars to keep users abreast of software functionality and enhancements. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Technical expertise in development, implementation and operation of engineering database to control preliminary drawings and maintain information regarding assembly bill of materials </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Technical assistance utilizing robotic simulation for clearance studies, visualization and off-line programming of 6, 7, and 8 doff robots and Kinematic devices. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Research and development of solid modeling, analysis, visualization and simulation. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Internet networking to provide secure data exchange with other NASA sites and off-site contractors. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Technical assistance in output from graphics applications to produce presentation, academic and research papers, videos, animations and drawings </li></ul></ul>
    6. 6. The Mechanical Team <ul><li>Brian Griffin - Team lead for the IES Mechanical Support Group. Our group provides support, customization, and standardization, for all the mechanical CAD/CAM/CAE software as well as for the product data management systems. Supported software includes Pro/Engineer, NX, Solid Edge, IGRIP, Envision, SmartSketch, Teamcenter Engineering, and WindChill PDMLink. </li></ul><ul><li>Supervise group responsible for support and customization of all Mechanical CAD (MCAD) applications and product data management systems. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide primary MCAD support for EV12. </li></ul><ul><li>Create custom Unigraphics and ProEngineer programs for extending the functionality of the CAD system and tailoring the system to customer specifications. </li></ul><ul><li>Administer all MCAD software licenses as well as generate reports on license usage. </li></ul><ul><li>Act as focal point for all MCAD software vendors. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide support for the Delmia applications such as IGRIP, Envision, and Quest. </li></ul>IES Mechanical Team Lead Mechanical Engineer Ph: 544-6656 Bldg. 4600, Rm. 1310

The Mechanical Team <ul><li>Bob Beard - Provide primary CAD support for EI12, EI41, and EM30. </li></ul><ul><li>Troubleshoot design related problems; define proper workflows and establish best practices. </li></ul><ul><li>Supported CAD applications are Unigraphics NX, Pro/Engineer, Solid Edge, SmartSketch and VisView. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide Client-side support for the PLM Systems, TeamCenter and WindChill. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide support on CAD file translations. </li></ul><ul><li>Install engineering related software packages on customer workstations. </li></ul><ul><li>Test and implement the engineering related software. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) support to the various machine shops on campus. The CAM products supported are UG NX CAM and Pro/E Wildfire CAM. The Mechanical Team <ul><li>Ron Brooks - supports various organizations and their respective contractors for the following software applications: Teamcenter Engineering, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, ArcGIS, MS IIS, Apache, Tomcat, MS Sharepoint, MSSQL and Oracle. </li></ul><ul><li>Use “C” and Perl to customize Teamcenter Engineering. </li></ul><ul><li>Use MS Visual Basic to customize ArcGIS. </li></ul><ul><li>Act as Database Administrator for two MSSQL and four Oracle databases. </li></ul><ul><li>Use Coldfusion and JavaScript to support EEMO’s GIS Web application EGIS. </li></ul><ul><li>Perform software upgrades after ensuring they are compatible with existing software. </li></ul><ul><li>Perform ongoing support for Teamcenter Engineering. </li></ul><ul><li>Import/Export files into and out of Teamcenter Engineering using Unigraphics CAD and Perl. </li></ul><ul><li>Assist in the development of the Facilities Department’s new GIS Web application FacGIS. </li></ul><ul><li>Use Perl and VBscript to support the EEMO Hazardous Material Web application. </li></ul>Software Engineer Ph. 544-4837 Bldg. 4476, Rm. 113A
    9. 9. The Mechanical Team <ul><li>Mike Brown - Provides technical consultation and support for MSFC's engineering tasks utilizing WindChill and Teamcenter with CAD applications. These responsibilities include WindChill database configuration and administration, Teamcenter database administration, and CAD to WindChill configuration support. </li></ul><ul><li>Serve as a direct report to IEC DDMS team - ED03, responsible for system configuration and administration of MSFC's CAD-to-WindChill (Design Data Management System) processes. This role involves project management of the CAD implementation to WindChill, securing needed product and licensing configurations, organizing training across MSFC departments, managing the Configuration and Control Board (CCB) for WindChill (DDMS) CAD management releases, and consulting with MSFC management on future DDMS implementations. </li></ul><ul><li>Serve as the MSFC training manager for PTC products. </li></ul>Mechanical Engineer Ph. 544-3429 Bldg. 4476, Rm. 113A

The Mechanical Team <ul><li>Scott Maddux – Provides onsite mechanical software support for ER34 and other various engineering departments using Unigraphics, Solid Edge, ProEngineer, Productvision, TeamCenter and WindChill PLM Solutions. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide problem resolutions and expert advice in the use of CAD software and related applications. </li></ul><ul><li>Develop and teach application specific seminars. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide mechanical modeling for preliminary designs and/or for analysis. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide parametric modeling for rocket engine component libraries. </li></ul><ul><li>Develop design formats for Unigraphics, Solid Edge and ProEngineer. </li></ul><ul><li>Serves on the Pro/Engineer Standards Committee </li></ul><ul><li>Key person and Instrumental in the implementation of Pro/Engineer at NASA/MSFC. </li></ul><ul><li>Translates various File types for use in Sterolithography, IGES, STEP, and many more. </li></ul>Mechanical Support Specialist Ph: 544-8889 Bldg. 4203, Rm. 4238
    11. 11. The Mechanical Team <ul><li>Josh White - Provides onsite mechanical software support for ER34 and other various engineering departments. The main software applications I support are: Pro/E Wildfire, Solid Edge, Unigraphics, Teamcenter Visualization and Data Management, ProductView, and WindChill. </li></ul><ul><li>Aid in design and modeling of complex piece parts and testing fixtures. </li></ul><ul><li>Program customized add-on utilities for CAD software i.e. Unigraphics, Solid Edge and SmartSketch using UG Grip and Visual Basic language. </li></ul><ul><li>Host seminar/work sessions for Unigraphics, TeamCenter Engineering, UG/Structures, Solid Edge, and VisView. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide hands-on support for advance features in Unigraphics, Solid Edge, and Pro/E Wildfire modeling packages. </li></ul><ul><li>Analyze customer problems by addressing software bugs and relaying their concerns to the software developers. </li></ul><ul><li>Supply expertise in translating between CAD packages through STEP, IGES, DXF and other neutral formats. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide technical support for integration between TeamCenter Engineering Product Data Management System and CAD modeling packages. </li></ul><ul><li>Produce output, including 3D animations of complex assemblies, from graphics applications to aid presentations, videos, and drawings. </li></ul>Mechanical Engineer Ph: 544-0631 Bldg. 4203, Rm. 4241

The Mechanical Team <ul><li>Jeff Williams – Provide primary MCAD support for EV32 mechanical CAD packages including Unigraphics, Solid Edge, and ProEngineer. </li></ul><ul><li>Resolve any CAD modeling problems NASA engineers face (i.e., redesigning models to make them more parametric and finding ways to work around software bugs.) </li></ul><ul><li>Assist in the modeling of complex solid models (i.e., modeling of foam from the Space Shuttle External Tank for structural analysis.) </li></ul><ul><li>Help determine best modeling practices and help set NASA CAD standards. </li></ul><ul><li>Perform file translations to get solid models between the various packages, using STEP, IGES, and DXF formats. </li></ul><ul><li>Create part libraries for Unigraphics and Pro/E. </li></ul><ul><li>Create training material for CAD packages and perform on-site training. </li></ul><ul><li>Create and maintain drawing formats for various packages. </li></ul><ul><li>Set up automated parts list for use with Unigraphics and ProE. </li></ul><ul><li>Create customized macros for Unigraphics. </li></ul><ul><li>Install, test, and implement CAD software. </li></ul><ul><li>Log Enhancement Requests with Unigraphics Developers to help make their software more user friendly and better for NASA engineers. </li></ul>Mechanical Engineer Ph: 544-0617 Bldg. 4600, Rm. 3118

Our group provides support, customization, and standardization, for all the Architecture Engineering and Construction Team, as well as Environmental and GIS support. Supported software includes Mentor Graphics Expedition PCB and Design Capture, and MicroStation. </li></ul><ul><li>Provides support for MicroStation and IPLOT for various ED and AS organizations and their respective contractors. </li></ul><ul><li>Create new symbols and/or footprints when requested for projects. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintain and modify Mentor Graphics Library which contains information that is used in conjunction with Expedition PCB and Design Capture. </li></ul><ul><li>Perform software upgrades when compatible with existing software. </li></ul><ul><li>Load software and provide training as required for new users. </li></ul><ul><li>Responsible for maintaining all Electronics, MicroStation and Iplot license files. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide limited support for Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. </li></ul>IES AEC Team Lead Electronics Engineer Ph: 544-3570 Bldg. 4487, Rm. Using the following software: Windows Server 2003, 2000, NT 4.0, XP, Veritas Backup Exec, Solaris, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FrontPage, Visual Basic, Visual C++, Access, SQL, Oracle, and the IES Engineering Service Request System, we provide the following services: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Technical assistance in the creation of customized printing and plotting solutions </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Up-to-date workstation configurations to ensure user access to current tools </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Maintain and install operating system updates and patches to maintain system security. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Loading of software and configuration changes for optimum performance </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Technical expertise analyzing user problems by addressing software bugs, and hardware problems, working with ODIN support </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Technical assistance with Windows and Solaris operating system commands and workstation environment customization </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Technical support in loading and maintaining Patchlink clients and evaluating Patchlink database information to maintain system security </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Technical expertise in development, implementation and operation of engineering databases to access Engineering and Facilities data. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Technical expertise in the upgrading and enhancing of existing web pages to obtain compatibility with Web Review Board and Section 508 requirements </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Develop custom software applications to adhere to NASA organizational standards and increase productivity </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Daily backup tapes, monthly archive tapes, and file recoveries of IES servers located in Bldg. 4476, 4708, and 4250 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Operational support through the IES Engineering Services Request System, interfacing with customers to determine requirements and assigning the appropriate support resources. </li></ul></ul>

The Infrastructure Team <ul><li>Rebecca Fowler - Provides administration and development for Windows based servers providing websites, databases and applications in support of IES, ED organizations, Environmental Sciences and associated contractors. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide programming and support for the Trouble Reporting System utilizing Visual Basic. </li></ul><ul><li>Troubleshoot issues with server-based IPLOT issues. </li></ul><ul><li>Manage the DPR (Digital Print Room) web-based CAD library. </li></ul><ul><li>Update current websites (IES, Facilities Functional Review and Conference Room Calendars) and develop new websites using ASP and ASP.NET and Visual Basic .NET and C# as code behind. Some websites interface with Oracle and other back end database systems. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide support for various users publishing websites using Front Page. </li></ul><ul><li>Write database queries using PL/SQL, T-SQL and Access queries. </li></ul><ul><li>Troubleshoot, update and modify existing Access databases. </li></ul><ul><li>Write PERL scripts as needed. </li></ul><ul><li>Integrated Engineering Services Website Curator. </li></ul>Software Engineer Ph: 544-4845 Bldg. 4476, Rm. 120
