Bright minds and big opportunities with enterprise forms
BRIGHT MINDS AND BIG OPPORTUNITIES
WITH ENTERPRISE FORMS
SIMPLE FORMS. NOT SO SIMPLE.
Creating a simple form that collects data seems easy. And it is.
But for most enterprises, it isn’t so simple.
The user interface of business apps must not only capture input, but also deliver
information for well-informed decisions. This information often lives across data
sources and the web, making big data practical and actionable. The interface must be
user-friendly, secure, current and appropriately governed. It must be surfaced on any
device, at any time and with versions stored for historical reference. Delivering all this
isn’t so simple.
K2 recently brought together thought leaders from
around the world to participate in its FWD Thinkers forum.
One topic the group discussed was the future
of user interfaces and how K2’s SmartForms enable
them to deliver more, faster.

The challenges that we work on most often relate to integrating business data
from many different systems. In our case, we have ticketing information in
Autotask. We have other data that we store in SQL. And then we have other web
services that we need to reach into to bring it all together and make serving this
data simple. Most often we're using K2 to tie all that together, present forms and
simplify and automate business process for all of our various teams.

In every application that we see today, 60-70% of the development relates to
forms.…with Medicare forms, there are a lot of interrelated fields. Based on what
you select over here, the rest of the form is dynamic. The form completely changes
and to do that natively, you're developing every form from scratch. There's a whole
lot of logic that you have to build on top of the form to validate and dynamically
render it based on the field you're selecting. That's where we see that the mobile
forms, the SmartForms in K2, can really help us.

A lot of organizations are using K2 [software] in conjunction with SharePoint,
SalesForce.com, SAP and other systems. The fact that the business process, the
workflows, the forms that you build in K2 can work in SharePoint but also integrate
seamlessly into SalesForce.com is a great benefit. I think that's something that’s
really going to help enterprises in terms of having consistent processes and user
experiences in all areas of the business.

The way K2 has decoupled the forms that flow the data, this is what excites
us. The decoupling gives more freedom. We can choose whether we want
to use SmartForms, a SharePoint form or whatever. We can pick the best
of SharePoint and K2.

…we're implementing a membership database using K2 SmartForms for
an organization... And I estimate that the solution, with its integration
capabilities, the reduced amount of re-keying and the self-service
capabilities that that solution will deliver, could easily save that organization
in excess of £50,000 a year.

…on mobile apps, the ability to actually open up the task list that includes the
form and data within the device - such as an Apple, Android or Windows form -
helps in terms of driving usability and adoption because it lowers barriers.
People can easily open up an iPad, click on the form, open it and read the
information. If they like it, they approve it. If they have a concern, they can send
it back for more information. If they think that it is wrong, they decline it. I think
that is very important.
I think it’s really a spread of companies that will be looking to adopt K2;
especially those looking at automation and processes; those companies that still
depend on a lot of forms. It was hard in previous times to take a copy of a form
and route it to different people, just to get their signature. Now, with this type of
system in place, they can look at how they optimize the process.

…with SmartForms you just build the form and fit it to the requirements.
That part’s easy and it has a SmartObject to pull the organization’s workflow
and use that within SmartForms.
K2 provides a faster, easier way to create forms
for business applications.
