And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is? 3. The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allâh in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months). 4. Therein descend the angels and the Rûh [Jibrîl (Gabrîl)] by Allâh’s Permission with all Decrees, 5. (All that night), there is Peace (and Goodness from Allâh to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn. gAl-Bukhaari narrated Aaisha: Allahs Apostle  ‫א‬PBUH said,5fxtÜv{ yÉÜ à{x a|z{à Éy s @ŠmìÛa@¿@‰†ÔÛa@òÜîÛ@a늤II W ‫א‬dtwÜ |Ç à{x Éww Ç|z{àá Éy à{x Ätáà àxÇ wtçá ÉyetÅtwtÇA5 HHNæbšß‰@åß@Šaëþa@Š’ÈÛa@åßAssalaamu Alaikum,  ‫א‬‫א‬We know that the most significant sign ofLailatul-Qadr (the great night) is that the sun ‫א‬‫א‬rises the day after that night with no rays, as in ‫א‬،the sayings of the prophet PBUH narrated byMuslim, Ahmad, An-Nassaae, At-Tirmidhi, Abu-  K‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬Dawood and Ibn-Hibbaan. ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬Many of us may have watched the sunrise onsome of the last ten days of Ramadhaan, and ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬saw the sun without rays and knew that the ‫א‬،‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬night before was Lailatul-Qadr, so he wouldpraise Allaah for the good deeds he did in that ،night, or regret the time he has wasted.  KA guy named Mamdouh Al-Jibreen alsowatched – for seven years - the sunrise on the ‫א‬‫א‬  last ten days of Ramadhaan, but he wrote down ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬the days and dates of Lalilatul-Qadr. In thoseseven years Lailatul-Qadr was the following ،‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬ ،‫א‬ 
  2. 2. nights*:  W*‫א‬  K٢٥‫א‬W١٤١٩ th1419 – Tuesday 25 of Ramadhaan.1420 – Tuesday 27th of Ramadhaan.  K٢٧‫א‬W١٤٢٠ rd1421 – Tuesday 23 of Ramadhaan.  K٢٣‫א‬W١٤٢١1422 – Tuesday 25th of Ramadhaan.  K٢٥‫א‬W١٤٢٢1423 – Tuesday 21st of Ramadhaan.  K٢١‫א‬W١٤٢٣1424 – Tuesday 23rd of Ramadhaan.  K٢٣‫א‬W١٤٢٤1425 – Tuesday 25th of Ramadhaan.  K٢٥‫א‬W١٤٢٥He noticed, as you may have noticed too, that ،،Lailatul-Qadr only comes on the nights of ‫א‬‫א‬K‫א‬‫א‬Tuesdays. He concluded that Lilatul-Qadr is thenight of Tuesday which date is odd numbered, ،‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬in the last ten days of Ramadhaan. The odd- ،numbered-dated Tuesday could be calculatedfor any pervious or coming year. The odd- ٢٧W‫א‬numbered-dated Tuesday, according to ٢٥٢٩٢٥٢٣٢١٢٥٢٣Mamdouh Al-Jibreen comes in a sequence asfollows: 27, 23, 25, 21, 23, 25, 29, 25, then star  K٢٧over from 27 to begin a new cycle. ١٤٢٦‫א‬،‫א‬So, he predicted that in 1426 Lailatul-Qadrwould be on Tuesday 29th of Ramadhaan, in ١٤٢٧،٢٩‫א‬1427 it would be on Tuesday 25th of E‫א‬F١٤٢٨،٢٥‫א‬Ramadhaan, in 1428 (this years) it would be onTuesday 27th of Ramadhaan and in 1429 (next E‫א‬‫א‬F١٤٢٩،٢٧‫א‬year) it would be on Tuesday 23rd of  K٢٣‫א‬Ramadhaan.This year I watched the sunrise on some of the ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬last ten days of Ramadhaan, and the sun on the27th was indeed different than the rest of the ‫א‬،‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬days. For about half hour, the sun remained ،‫א‬٢٧with no rays, and I could look at it directly andconstantly without discomfort. ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬  K  * Both Arabic and Islamic days start and end at K‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬*sunset. Friday, for example, starts at sunset ofThrusday, and ends at sunset of Friday. Hence, the ‫א‬‫א‬night of Tuesday is the night before the day of ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬K‫א‬Tuesday. The night of Tuesday starts at Mondays  K‫א‬‫א‬،‫א‬sunset and ends at Tuesdays dawn.

I ،‫א‬‫א‬shot the first on Tuesday 27th of Ramadhaan1428 / 9th of October 2007 at 6:30am, 13 ١٤٢٨٢٧‫א‬٦W٣٠‫א‬minutes after sunrise. ،١٣‫א‬،٢٠٠٧٩‫א‬‫א‬I shot the second picture from the same location ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬on the very next day, Wednesday 28th of ٢٨‫א‬٦W٣٠‫א‬WRamadhaan 1428 / 10th of October 2007 atexactly the same time 6:30am, 13 minutes after K٢٠٠٧١٠‫א‬‫א‬١٤٢٨sunrise. K‫א‬‫א‬Some of my friends advised me not to tellpeople about this, because if people knew ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬،‫א‬which night was Lailatul-Qadr, they wouldwould do good deeds only on that night and ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬waste the rest of the last ten nights of ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬Ramadhaan!  >‫א‬‫א‬Of course that is NOT what a Muslim should do! ‫א‬‫א‬،‫א‬Or why do we pray Qiyaam (Taraweeh/nightprayers) in the first 20 days of Ramadhaan ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬while we know Lilatul-Qadr is not one of them?  ‫؟‬‫א‬Im sending you this message to share the  K‫א‬‫א‬knowledge with you, and to encourage you to  W‫א‬‫א‬watch the sunrise in the last 10 days ofRamadhaan and see for yourself if Lilatul-Qadr ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬is really the night odd-numbered-dated ‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬Tuesday.Knowing which night is Lailatul-Qadr helps us  W،‫א‬K‫א‬do even more good deeds in that night and  K‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬utilize it even more.For some people who work the night shift during ،the last 10 nights of Ramadhaan and cannot ‫א‬،‫א‬‫א‬‫א‬take all the 10 nights off but can take one nightoff, its very useful for them to know which night  K‫א‬،is Lilatul-Qadr.   May Allaah help us all do what He likes us to  K‫א‬‫א‬ do.   Wassalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaah.  K‫א‬‫א‬ Hany   
