The advantages to this type of system is that it eradicates the need for permanent formwork as well as being quick and simple to install hence decreasing the cost. The ‘Jack-Up’ floating floor system is contained of a concrete slab which is poured on a damp proof membrane on the structural slab. The slab is then ‘jacked’ up by way of units cast into the slab When designing and constructing the external walls for the theatre, there will be more of a focus on the sound insulation of the wall to reduce the amount of sound entering the building from the outside and also to reduce the amount of sound leaving the building. Doors, windows and types of HVAC systems installed in the external wall will also have a major effect of the acoustic performance. Coventry University , Performing Arts Centre- Technical Focus . They are favoured by acoustic consultants because of the certainty that the slab is fully decoupled from the surrounding structure. [Jack-up] floor slabs must be made from concrete and reinforced using mesh rather than fibres as the [Jack-up] mounts are designed to link with the mesh to spread load when the slab is lifted.

These separating walls are often load- bearing and hence entail a greater amount of fire protection than internal walls. Concrete block cavity walls not only depend on the mass but also on isolation that is given by the cavity. Mass and airtightness is very important when concerning effective insulation and the conduction of airborne sound and how practical it is for separating walls. The weight of the wall is determined by the density and how thick the material is that’s used. The design, details and the construction is what makes the separating wall reach good acoustic performance A pile foundation consists of two components: Pile cap and single or group of piles. Piles transfers the loads from structures to the hard strata, rocks or soil with high bearing capacity.
